Does the Auto have a breather?

Hi guys,

In another thread, somebody told me there was a transmission breather beside the front diff breather. Can't find one on my Auto.

They sure do but it is on top of the transmission and only accesible if you drop the entire box out. You dont need to extend it though for water crossings as it has a plug in the end of it. Same goes for the transfer case. I assume the plug is a one-way arrangement to stop water ingress. I did have a thread about it with the part no. Toyota sent me a parts diagram with an exploded view of both cases.
Hope that helps.
Cheers Greg.

Cool Greg, thanks a lot!

The factory rear diff breather is a one way valve, out only and a vacuum builds up in the diff as the air in the diff heats up and is expelled. I assume these breathers you are referring to are the same sort of design.
