Front E-Locker now available

Postby asmo on Wed, 08 Jun 2011 1:29 +0000

Just got off the phone to Harrop and the E-Locker is now available for the Front diff

You need to have a 3.73 ratio diff or less ie, the standard center.. If you have regeared to a larger Prado center e locker isnt available (yet)
If you have a 3.91 or larger / higher number Ratio there is a waiting list and he couldnt give me a exact time just "soon" (Still developing)

Part number Front 3.73 Ratio is
99-ELKR 10 994

Rear is same # but 9334 at the end
You can buy from Harrop or Opposite Lock RRP $1595 but the price is the same and Opposite lock may do a deal on Fitting
I called 3 Opposite lock stores and only one said they do one for a front hilux and other 2 are yet to be updated from harrop so they said NO E -locker available for front...
So use part number above and see how you go...

Yeah we will be getting front and rear E-Lockers installed pretty soon. It was good to hear from Harrop that both the Hilux and 200Series fronts are now available 8-)

Give us a Price Ultimate as i will be ordering in the next few days ?

RRP from any Opposite lock store is $1595

then think about Bearings seals and fitting kits plus labour 5-600 depending on Store
Maybe not needed on new models

Your vehicle has come a long way Rocket. It's looking great now ;)

Unfortunately we aren't a distributor of the E-Locks yet. Just getting some for our vehicle in the next few weeks. We will be supplying them for a few export customers so we might be able to do something locally. Just have to sort a few other things out first. For the time being you are better off dealing with OL.

Ye I was quoted 1700 from arb and I already have the rear and compressor fitted, to be honest Ive had mine back in twice for oil spewing out the top of the compressor. So as much as Im a fan of ARB Ive heard a lot of negative re lockers.
Will be interesting when some of these are fitted and tested to see how they stand up :?

Well not really
1250 ish for the ARB then a compressor 180 small and 360 that does tyres too fitting around the same
so in the end its just a decision really.. suppose you get a compressor that will pump up tyres with the larger one in that price
Eaton Harrop certainly a good name / product

Ok Ultimate cheers

That's who put both of mine in. Gordon is very good, Terry out the back who does the work is very good also. :D

You can get it a bit cheaper than that and both times when I did mine there was a deal going where you get about $300 worth of recovery gear thrown in. 2nd time around I negotiated a cash discount instead of a 2nd set of recovery gear.

Heard from a little Birdie today that the New TJM is a better setup than the ARB locker, basically the new setup eliminates the oil leakage that the ARB ones can be common for...... According to a Diff man he much prefers the new TJM variety, Unfortunately the Front is still under development. :( :(

You paid pretty close to cost price there mate so you got a bargain I think.

Good to see that Eaton has finally sorted the front. I'd be interested to know why the models are specific to a ratio though!

Reading through the gearing bible in here The higher gearing is a different carrier all together
Same with the ARB one you need to supply this when ordering.
ie there is 2 different ARB models for the Hilux front a (RD111 or RD121 (i think))

Basically the first post of the Gear train bible explains what you have what ever you drive

Should have read the first post closer shouldn't I? After all, I wrote the bible. I got thrown by the reference to fitting the auto only. The 3.9 diff did not get fitted to the Lux at all as it is a Prado diff ratio. (Unless it has been added to the 2011model). The manual has a 3.5 diff so the e-locker will also fit it as the carrier is the same as the 3.7's.

So if you want to regear your diffs to 3.9's or 4.1's from the Prado and fit lockers, you will will need to stick with ARB lockers in the front until Eaton release a diff lock for the Prado.

You have to have some grudging respect for ARB for supporting such a huge range of diffs for so many brands and models. Nobody else has such an extensive range..... It is my understanding that ARB now use a different O ring that is less prone to being damaged on installation (which is the greatest problem with leaking seals).

Ah yes the penny has dropped :o
3.7 below.. so it will fit most will edit first post (unless you have regeared with a prado center to 3.9)
Head spinning :D
