Did you have an extended diff breather on the rear diff housing before the e-locker was installed? Still there afterwards?

The hole for wires is drilled in diff center not the diff housing
so to answer your question

hi guys straight from the horses mouth

"Good morning Steve, thank you for your enquiry.
Currently we have available an ELocker for the rear only for your application(05+ hilux ifs). At this stage the front is still under review and we are unable to provide a proposed launch time.
The Elocker kit RRP is $1,695.00 inc GST, plus freight.

As for modifications, this is limited to drilling a hole in the differential case for the electrical wiring.

Should you wish to proceed you can purchase directly through Harrop or from Opposite Lock stores."

Regards
Peter

Yep, that settles it then, rear locker only. I've been searching high and low for info on the rumoured front locker with no luck. I didn't think it was true. I wonder when he says "under review", the front locker is in development and under review or if they a reviewing whether they're even going to make one...... :?

Thanks for the info Steve

I swore I would never buy an air (leak) locker again. Now I can get a diff lock again. I spoke to the manager of opposite lock and he said they are working on the front diff lock and ones for other models.

Hey guys
Just an update on arrival time for front e-locker on 05+ models, apparently they will have one ready by the end of the year or early 2011. How has anyone with the rears fitted found them to handle compared to the LSD? Just wondering what the open diff is like for highway driving and how much of a difference can you feel when engaged for getting out of or up the difficult stuff?

rox287,

I reccomend you find someone with a rear or even a front diff locked vehicle and go for a drive somewhere offroad....dont have to be far or too extreme and get the vehicle crossed up even in the ditch on the side of the road .

Get it in a situation where one rear wheel is off the ground.

you'll find with standard LSD the wheel in the air will be spinning and no forward movement.

Now flick the rear locker on and try the same and the vehicle will cruise on out.

Its something you have to feel inside the vehicle to appreciate the difference.

Once you lock, you never go stock!

damn, that was just lame

Thanks all for your views, mmaaxx great way to explain it I was thinking along those lines also but wanted to make sure from people who know before I went ahead, I think I'm gonna go with it and get one before this trip, I've been quoted $1500 for locker and around $800 to fit including replacing all seals, they reckon it would be a full day to do,this seems a bit steep to me whats everyone reckon?

I will be watching this with keen eyes. Thanks to Quinny's Misstress I now want lockers.

After having a quick play in her on a hill the difference is amazing. Mind you he had air locker but I'm thinking an e locker but will see when it comes time to spending the money.

Last year Opposite Lock in Mitcham Vic quoted me $1750 for ELocker plus $250 for installation. They said it was a special introductory offer.

Opposite Lock have a Winter Sale on now (26th June - 14th August). ELocker $1495. I don't know the installation costs but will get a quote from OL Mitcham Vic today or tomorrow. rox287 is your installation quote from OL or a diff specialist?

Diff specialists will usually charge more.

I got charge $550 to have my leaky air locker pulled out and checked and seals replaced....they (ARB) said its the same rate as getting one installed as it s the same amount of work ( I say BS - fixing seals dont require you to adjustments to the C&P gears :x )

The E-Locker sounds pricey?

Wonder why it costs more than an ARB airlocker? :?

Cause the electricity will never leak out of it?

I imagine anything to do with Eaton & Harrop will come at a price, I've only ever heard 'good' stories about the Harrop gear and I have an Eaton blower myself, its fantastic.

 Well said.

Just got back from OL. As I stated above, Winter special is $1495 plus $300 installation = $1795. That includes replacing the seals. That's the best installation price he could give me as it's a "special introductory price". Funny how I got two different "special introductory prices" from the same place more than six months apart and they are different. :? Anyway overall it's $205 cheaper now.

rox287 I reckon you should get a quote from somewhere else. Think of what you could spend the $500 on.

By the way, the guy from OL said he was talking to Harrop last week and they said the front ELocker will be released soon. They are in the final stages of testing. He couldn't even give me a ball park date though. :? So hang in there guys it will be here soon...........................................

Cheers
