Blackie: Yeah, prob is I'm not based in Australia (but I've got family members in WA). Will be dropping by Christmas or next year for visits. Here, prado 120 and 150 are considered luxury cars and we dont see much/non existant here at the local wreckers.

I read your post Max about your new booster but didnt think it was appropriate to hijack your build thread so Ill put my question here.
Do Prado brake calipers increase pedal travel?
And if so, would you expect the new booster to rectify that to a degree?
I do wonder if an increase in master cylinder bore size is do-able/possible or worth the trouble.
Mine is an 09 and Ive ordered some 17's and can easily do the work but I hate long pedal travel.

The Prado Calipers dont affect pedal travel. They provide the ability to fit a larger pad, to suit a larger rotor, resulting in a larger surface area to brake with hence the better braking.

The larger booster provides more clamping force. More pedal firmness.

Im unsure if you can change the master cylinder to a bigger one, I dont think there would be a problem should you find one to suit.

But I dont think touching the master cylinder is required.

Note: TRD Hilux's ran the Prado120 front calipers/rotor setup but retained the factory hilux brake boosters.....and those that have done the swap to the larger Prado120 setup will tel you how much better the braking is.....adding a bigger booster I'd say would "almost" double that ability with greater/firmer pedal feel to boot.

Yep, thanks for taking the time to reply. I understand the extra advantage the brakes have from a larger rotor. I was under the impression the piston size was also larger and increased travel.
Sorry, I read the whole thread and that many things got covered from wheel offset to tyre price I forgot all that got said. I've owned a 120 and loved the brakes so I'll hunt some calipers.

I dont think there is a need mate, as 2012 hilux's come with bigger brakes, and bigger rims to suit.

Bigger rims mean you can fit bigger brakes

You'll have trouble making prado calipers fit on a 16" wheel...even in the OP they had to mod them to fit on an ROH wheel.

If your not planning to run 17's, I would seriously consider getting slotted rotors, braided brake lines and the bigger brake booster we will be selling shortly.

Have you read the thread? You need 17's to run Prado brakes unless your prepared to carve up your calipers.

Yer i have read the thread but il be going with what max stated with the sloted rotors and booster upgrade only for 16s

Hey guys, i couldnt find anyone already asking this, but iv got a hilux 4x2. Is it still the same thing as the 4x4 for this mod? iv got 22" wheels on it so probs need bigger brakes to slow it down more effectively. Just wasnt sure cause i know the 4x4 hilux/prado has a 6 stud wheel compared to my 5, so maybe it has different mounting brackets and stuff?
If someone could please confirm these brakes would bolt straight on would be great. thanks!

I think it might work mate. The discs will be a bit harder. Check out toyodiy.com and see if the part number of the spindle is the same as a kun26r hilux.

You might be able to get blank discs and get them drilled to suit.

I used RDA slotted. Still going strong a year later.

Have recently completed the brake upgrade and I can say that it is braking a shit load better and actually pulling up,
