Postby Aee on Wed, 22 Mar 2023 4:11 +0000

Hi

Can anyone suggest a good quality c.v for Hilux kun26r
With a 40mm lift.

I fitted a aftermarket one that suits a 40mm lift problem is when
Vehicle on hoist in the air wheel locks . I guess it is due to the cv angle.

I have remove the diff drop but no luck .

Any suggestions.

Thanks

The toyota CVs are best. Suggest you look at changing your top hat (getting a longer/higher one) and/or if you only have the spacer style diff drop, getting the diff drop that replaces the cast supports.
I might be wrong.

Next time one of you blokes has a lux up in the air with a fix for this issue can you please show me a picture of what the fix is . I asked a couple of my mates with the same modle of lux as me they claimed they didn't have that issue when I jacked their front wheels off the ground they have it as bad as I do. The lifted cv's don't make it go away. the diff drop (spacer) didn't do much. The mechanice cant put my lux on the hoist in front of me because it brings the subject up of him telling lies when I first asked about this issue. Its all most mud season and I want to go play in the mud.

Different suspension brands have different strut lengths. Some are way too long which gives you problems with binding.

Brands like dobinsons etc are spot on for length if your installer provides the correct top hat.

This flatter style will lengthen your strut potentially causing binding:

This longer style will shorten your strut (not the stroke length), preventing binding:

Using the longer style with a proper diff drop (not the extended bolts and washers) will solve most binding issues.
I might be wrong.
