Oil leaking out from top of gearbox.

Ok so as the title states my gearbox is leaking from the top. ImageImage
Oild is leaking where the red arrows are. The most of it is comming out underneath the block that the gear stick goes in. There is a small amount leaking out of the boot as well not sure if thats just because it gets pushed up there from the other leak or not. The main think im wondering is if this is as simple as unbolting the 4 bolts taking the plate off and changing the seal or is it more likely to be some thing more sinister.
I have been searching for this specific issue for a while and cant find any thing

hi. nothing sinister here. You can pull up that seal and see what the issue is. Should be rubber boot is torn or perished, or there the seal that connect the rubber to the shift housing has come off.

You can also take out the four bolts no problem and remove the whole assembly. Real easy to put back on, just make sure the faces of the housing and the gear box are clean before you do up the bolts on reassembly. This will prevent further leaks.
