I had difficulty getting all the information I needed for my build so hopefully this thread will help other people.

I have a 2022 Hilux Adventure in Metallic Grey. Not sure what it's called elsewhere, I think it's similar to the Rogue but not with the same options.

It's a V6 petrol engine with an automatic gearbox. Here are details on the options:

- No leather seats
- No JBL sound system
- Only three airbags
- No lane or brake assist and no radar cruise control
- No electric seats or heated seats
- No downhill assist

It does have:
- A plastic covered tub
- Rear window that has a small square window in it that opens up
- 360 degree cameras
- Lockable rear diff
- 18" wheels
- Adventure bodykit
- Carplay

Here are some pictures before when I picked up the car

Below are pics after removing the trim on the doors and tinting the windows.

I wanted to fit 285 tires on the car since I had 33" ones on the FJ Cruiser I traded in for the Hilux. But, after reading a ton of posts here I decided to go with 265/70/17 BFG All terrains. It helped that the 275/70/17 were out of stock or else might have gotten those.

I also bought 17" Braid Winrace S wheels with a 0 offset. I wanted ET10 like some people suggested but they didn't come in that size. I also wanted to drop down from the 18" because I wanted more rubber, I just feel more comfortable with smaller wheels and taller sidewalls.

I'm also installing the OME 2" lift but leaving the rear leaf spring stock.

I have an appointment to install the lift tomorrow but installed the tires and wheels today. If anyone is curious to know if they rub, they do. They rub while turning hard so spent the drive home avoiding u-turns and hard turns.

Nice... very nice. I really like those wheels.

Whats the power output of the v6 over there?

It's 235hp, I thought it was the same engine I had in my FJ Cruiser but that had 260hp so not really sure.

I got the lift installed today along with the upper control arms. I got a call from them at first telling me they would need to trim the crash bar (the metal bit behind the wheel, I think it's part of the car frame. Told them they should be able to adjust the caster and sort the issue out. An hour later they called me to tell me they still needed to trim the crash bar. So I decided to drop by and check the issue. There was clearance behind the wheel and full lock, maybe around a thumb or two gap. But, they were worried that while offroading and at full lock the compression might cause the wheel to rub. Told them it was definitely not an issue and if it was gonna be an issue I'd come back to them. We ended up only trimming a tiny bit of the plastic behind the tire.

Also he told me if I had a more adjustable control arm problem would be an easy fix. The OME control arm isn't very adjustable, just a couple of degrees so he couldn't move it forward any further.

So far from first day of driving there is no rubbing, not at full lock or on speed bumps. Took a couple of photos but will take better ones at a later date.

Looking Nice. Just wondering if you're allowed to have bull-bar etc in Kuwait? I know some countries have restrictions on stuff like that.

From my understanding the dealer can't sell a car with a metal bumper, so for example you can't spec the Wrangler Rubicon here with the metal bumper. But, you can install one after you buy the car, no laws against that.

If you want a weird law we have here, non-Kuwaitis aren't allowed to own pickup trucks in Kuwait. I had to buy it and register it under my friend's name. It's an old law dating back to the 80s I think when some people were buying pickup trucks and using them for commercial purposes.

Just an update, a couple of days back I had to climb a curb and as soon as I did the wheel rubbed on the crash bar. I'm kind of puzzled because I assumed with my 265/70 tires, lift and OME UCA that shouldn't happen. Not I guess I'm going to have to buy some other adjustable UCA's instead.

The rubbing is likely the wheel offset rather than the spring rate.
Looking at your other post pics, If its only rubbing plastic then just get a heat gun, heat up the splash guard area that touches the tyre and push it in 10mm at a time. Go for a drive, turn and compress until it clears.
If that isnt possible then a 31.5" should fit standard offset rims.

Theres a thread on here called something like fitting 32" tyres and another for 33" which covers all the issues with wheel offset and how to get around tyre rub. Some guys remove mudguards completely but that shouldnt be necessary.

Regarding rear height - The stance with the rear looking higher when empty is good.
When you do load it up for an adventure the rear will appear level with the front

I wish it was rubbing on the plastic, the part it was rubbing on I already trimmed. Whats happening though is on compression while turning the tire is hitting the metal frame. I've put an arrow on where in the photo below.

I'm thinking of getting a different UCA now since the OME one isn't too adjustable. Thinking of the Total Chaos ones https://www.chaosfab.com/product/2005-2 ... ntrol-Arms

Actually, thinking about it now, I need to first double check and make sure its actually still not rubbing against the mud guard somewhere because the sound its making sounds more like the tire hitting something flexible and not solid like the metal frame. Maybe I can figure out a way to mount my GoPro somewhere...

Sound System Upgrade

We don't have the JBL upgrade in Kuwait so decided to purchase the Focal kit along with some dynamat. I got the following:

Focal IS TOY 165
Focal IC TOY 165
Dynamat 10435 12" x 36" x 0.067" Thick Self-Adhesive Sound Deadener with Xtreme Door Kit
Dynamat 10415 10" x 10" x 0.067" Thick Self-Adhesive Sound Deadener with Xtreme Speaker Kit - Pair

I did the installation myself, it took around 4 hours. Removing the rivets was the most complicated part but by the last door had gotten the hang of it. The Dynamat door kit comes in 4 long strips, each door uses 1 and 1/2 so when I was done I had 1 strip left. I should have installed front speakers first because I would have used left over dynamat for the rear two doors.

I used this installation video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlpRoleJ68s

The rear speakers aren't really required since their volume isn't that high but I got the whole kit front and back for a good price from angrijeep.com

These speakers sound really great! They don't require an amp and I might not even have to get a subwoofer. They produce a pretty decent amount of bass, I was actually impressed. At one point I had the left door speaker original and the right door speaker focal and flipped between left and right, the Focals are louder and sound much more fuller. I couldn't get them to distort!

I highly recommend this upgrade.

Sounds good, just remember that if there's something you want that you can't normally get in Kuwait, it can always be posted to you from elsewhere. As long as it's legal and legitimate, then I'm certain there'd be plenty of punters happy to help you out.

Thaats a better pic
Get some chalk or brightly coloured water based paint and rub it over possible contact areas.
It may not be too late to take your rims back (if you havent scratched them) and swap them for some P10, P20 or even P30's. Your wheel bearings will last longer too. Your wheel shop may ask for some compensation but may be cheaper than aftermarket UCA's. If the wheel offset is wrong ya keep chasing problems

chalk sounds like a good idea! will go get some today and test it out because I'm really curious to where exactly it's rubbing, hopefully, ends up on the mud flaps or something easy

So this morning I put chalk inside my wheel well hoping to find out where the tires were rubbing. Once I was done I decided to turn right into an incline and right away the sound came back. Didn't really need the chalk as you can see.

So took the car back to the shop and they trimmed the plastic. But, we also noticed that now that the suspension had settled the tire was touching the rear crash bar on hard turns. So they're currently working on moving the wheel forward as much as possible. Hopefully, it works. Will have to trim a bit of the front bumper though where I've marked it in the photo.

If you know anyone who's into "Plastics" and "Artsy Craft stuff", then maybe, just maybe, they might be able to "Re-Shape" the bumper to make it look like it is supposed to be that way. It'll really only take a heat gun and a "Flare" for the artistic.

Hopefully doesn't look that bad or noticeable. Still waiting on them to call me to pick up the car, supposed to take an hour and a half but it's been three!

Got my car back from the shop. They didn't have to trim the front bumper, they just reworked the alignment and trimmed a bit of the mud flap. I took it out and went a bit off roading with it and no rubbing.

But, while there I took a look under the car, my skid plate has been brown lately and I thought it was mud, it wasn't. Seems during the sandstorm the skid plate and lower control arms got sand blasted exposing the bear metal to the elements and they've started to rust. Got to get that sorted asap. Not worried too much about the skid plate since was planning to replace it with an ARB one anyway but the rest I'm worried about.

Ferropro is what I'd use on that. It's the best quality rust converter I found on the market. Converts surface rust to an undercoat you can paint over. For a top coat you might choose a bitumen based paint that retains flexibility after setting to prevent reoccurrence.
Remember that a rust converter requires a good base of surface rust for it to work properly.
