Picked up a few tips here and still have so many questions.

Picked up a 2016 runout brand new in 2017.


Looking pretty stock at Rover Park.



The wheels made a big difference but the 275s rubbed and had to be swapped out.



I played around with a TRD style grill but didn’t like it.



Eventually just blacked out the original grill and it looked heaps better. Also added a UHF.






Looking the goods with the Uneek front bar, which I’ll be adjusting this weekend as it’s sitting to close to the lights and grill.

Next step was going to be some Phatbars sliders and sump bash plate. I can’t decide between angled or flat rock sliders.

Question; will the bar work cause the stock suspension to sag?

I’m not sure whether to get the lift next. I was planning on throwing the sliders on next then lifting down the track.

I’ll eventually put a rear bar on too!

Usually easiest to do all ya bar work and accessories first to get an idea on ya constant weight cos it will sag. Your constant weight will dictate what suspension setup you'll need, then do ya tyres.

I can afford the rock sliders now and have already bent the stock steps.

I’m looking at the Phatbars. Angled or flat? I can’t decide.

Get the angled sliders if you intend to do a lot of boulder/rocky car on its side tracks.
The flat ones are much more family and partner friendly and will hold up to sand hills and the like...
the missus constantly complains about the angled step and how hard it is to get into the car

The flat ones are more practical, provide better access for the family and climbing aid to the roof but I’m ordering the angled ones haha

Added some Phatbars angles sliders and bash plates.





Now to save some pennies and decide on which suspension kit!

Leaning towards the Fox gear but the EFS kit suits the budget.

Finally got around to the suspension upgrade and had a 2 inch Bilstein /Kings lift installed.

It rolled out super high at 65mm lift in the front but settled at about 50mm. I need to check they used the heavy duty springs because it looked great at 65mm.



Had the sports bar powder coated too and it looks mint. Going to do the rear bar too now then black out all the chrome. May just plasti-dip the revision mirrors and badges. But not sure how well it lasts on door handles or the tailgate handle so will look into vinyl wrap.

If I could go back I would stick with the 275s and chop into the pinch weld more

With my 2001 Range I have started with 33 and end up with 37" Maxxis Trepadors with a lot of effort which I was glad I did.
This time I do not want to do that much offroad with my Hilux.
Planning overlanding more.

There is 0.5" difference with 265 and 275 when it comes to diameter.

BTW, are you happy with the BFs.
I keep hearing a lot of complaints about them lately.

I’ve had no issue with them but I’ve only done 11,000kms

They’re quiet on the road I’ve had no issues Offroad on sand and mud.
