My new SR5

Postby Gatti on Sun, 01 Jan 2017 1:20 +0000

I took delivery of my new SR5 just before Christmas 8-)

It was just in time for me to sort out fitting a brake controller and a Red Arc smart solenoid with an Anderson Plug at the tower and one in the tub so I can charge the batteries in my Camper Trailer.

We are heading off on our first trip in it tomorrow :)

It will be getting a 2 inch rich, bull bare, sliders with brush bars and a CB radio fitted in the new year.

Looks good mate !!!, I am expecting mine middle of January will you be installing the brake controller and Anderson outlets yourself. I will miss my dual battery setup in the old one until I rig something up in the new one. Best of luck with it all anyway mate.

Hi mate. I had the brake controller etc fitted by an Auto Electrician.

I had a dual battery set up in my old 4Runner and plan on using a Baintech Powertop in the Hilux to run the fridge in the tub when we don't take the Camper Trailer away.

Fitted new KO2's this morning.

Just 265/65's but they do scrape a bit at full lock.

It's getting the mods in the post above next week so the lift will fix that.

It surprises me that Toyota left so little room to fit bigger tyres as it's usually the first thing that gets changed on them.

Picked the car up today.

Very happy with it and can't wait to hit the tracks!

Looks great Gatti. I can see the 4WD East Coast sticker on the bullbar. The lads there are taking care of my rig too. They've been very helpful and obliging. TJM are apparently still developing their drawers for the Gen 8 Hilux, so they're ordering in drawers by RV Storage Solutions (apparently the same mob as Black Widow).

Still about a four week wait at this stage until all the gear arrives and they can get started on fitting it!

Did you have the TJM XGS suspension done, or was it another make?

Hi mate. Yes the work was done by East Coast 4wd and the were great. And I's highly recommend them.

It has the XGS suspension and the ride quality has been good so far, just need to get it out on the tracks to really test it out

We went camping on the weekend and the car was great!

We are heading to Kangaroo Boyd National Park this weekend to really give the new setup a try.

Here's a couple of pics I took on the camping trip
