The work/family SR DC - turbo, gears, suspension

Postby Thinpins on Mon, 29 Aug 2016 2:42 +0000

I've recently bought a 2016 SR Dual cab auto and it's almost here. My wife doesn't really appreciate it so I need to post it here to fish for positive reinforcement. Should be ready Wednesday this week. Pics to come

I paid it a little visit the other day to Fourby's while it was there getting dressed up to get a sneak peak pre delivery.

"UPDATED"

Unichip Q4 with HV driver
New MW alloy canopy with full length rack
Lovells 2" lift with 3500kgGVM upgrade pre registration
Ironman deluxe commercial bar w/ scrub bars and side steps and recovery points
Ironman 9500kg winch
Swapping from current ute, 2013 SR5 wheels with Mickey STZ 265/70/17
Tint
Toyota tow bar
Toyota canvas front and rear seats
Reverse camera
Bris Utes Alloy tray 1900x1900 (these trays are unreal, very solid)
Dual battery tray
Enerdrive VSR
105AH DEEP CYCLE

Still to fit
GME 3500 UHF
Hertz splits and Hertz 5 channel amp

Will probably fit some PHAT underbody stuff, had it on the last one and they were solid

Sure I've missed stuff but it'll come to me.

Any suggestions would be good.

My wife was the same until she drove it...now I can't get her out of the bloody thing. I built her a dog cage for the back to keep her shopping safe :D

Along those lines, you could put a 2" lift to give her better visibility in traffic. ;)

You could even tell her her arse looks awesome in the reversing camera when she closes the gate ;)

Let's hope it wins her over when it's all together. Sounds like a nice list of mods

Got any pictures of the reversing camera, How its mounted? Can you see the corners of the tray?

I'm booking mine in at its 1000k service for one. Not sure where too mount it yet. Guessing ill need to fabricate a mount?

"Why do the reverse lights come on every time I shut the gate?"

"Why did you engineer the gate latch to be at ground level?"

Not a lot. 10mm

Front tyres are rubbing on the mud flaps too at some points when I turn. I would have thought 265/70/17 with a 2" lift would have been no problem

most likely the wheel aliment - need to pull the front forward a little bit.

and pin back the mud guards.

This is where toyota mounted it. It has a small bracket. I will probably move it further under the tray to catch the lowball and a little of the tray. My old one was about 200mm under and I think it was a slightly better set up.

The reverse view is of my 8x5 trailer hooked up to give you an idea of angle. I put two orange safety bollards in line with the corners of the tray and they were 200mm back from the tray by the time I could see them in the camera, Where the camera is now is good for overall viewing angle but is a little hard to judge distance when things get really close. As with all things, I will get used to it.

The toyota tray has a different setup to that camera install. My camera shows the lines on the screen for for distance till you hit something also. I got a pick up dual cab and put a tray onto it as it comes with a reverse camera where as the cab chassis its an extra

This is how the standard camera on a tub gate appears on the screen, although I can see why it wouldn't really suit an offset custom-mounted camera:

If you were able to remount centrally then perhaps swapping the camera/software for the factory tub appearance might help with lining up the trailer? Not sure if this post helps or if I'm full of it...

I would prefer to have the lines so will have to check with the dealer. It was installed by toyota so I would have thought it would be the same. I've seen some of the eBay cameras have two circuits which can be clipped. Once clipped the lines appear or the image is flipped.

I have the Toyota reversing camera installed on my cab chassis sr and the camera picture is he same as yours. Be interested to see if there is a hidden option to add the lines though.

I'm not sure, it's pretty low compared to previous ones. Toyota did it pre delivery so probably just dark as legal.

When I asked the dealer he said all the cab chassis cameras don't have lines because of different trays etc. I'm with you and hoping there's a line option somewhere
