So finally got a chance to take the Hilux off the black stuff yesterday. Was such a good day up at Blacksmiths beach here in NSW, and trecked up to Redhead and through all of the tracks and dunes. Was really happy with how it performed, got up some pretty steep and soft dunes with ease. Found a few muddy tracks to go through out the back of the area too which I couldn't help but give a go. Here are a couple of pics I took on the day...

Hey mate, sorry for the late reply, haven't been on here much lately!

And I haven't done too much else to the truck itself since the last update, however I will probably be raising just an inch front and rear by blocks in the front and an extra leaf in the rear. This will be 3 inches front and 1 inch rear. I have a good mate who owns a pretty big suspension shop, and he can do that, and install diff drop kit (may or may not need it), for $1,000 give or take for everything, seems like a no brainer!

I run 14psi on the sand, and after a day of thrashing around the dunes, I fill up to 44psi due to the tyres being hot. Once they cool down that will come down closer to 40-41psi.

Hope this helps!

So I'm thinking seriously about removing the factory side steps, they're cheap and nasty and hate the look of them. Does anyone have any pics they can show me of a truck similar to mine without steps?

Cheers

Here's just a few pics of the truck I've taken recently, going to get all the bar work powdercoated black to match in, and rip off the side steps. Also going to add a leaf to the rear and add a block in the front, bring it up another inch...

So I pulled off the side steps, really happy with how it gives you so much more clearance! Also, it looks so much better now too!

After work yesterday decided to go for a random bash through the bush, took a couple of pics and alot of GoPro footage. Realise now how badly I need a snorkel, went through a couple of puddles that looked shallow, but the water went over the bonnet, must say, was holding my breath hoping it didnt take a huge gulp and leave me out in the middle of nowhere with a broken Lux

Hey mate I would strongly suggest a set of sliders before you head out to local places around here. Just remember one little bump and you will never regret it. Happy to head over your way so you can have a look at mine

+1 on raven, without those steps you have no protection for your sills. it only takes 1 thump and your sills are smashed up.

would recommend the buds ones (great build quality), but it will take 6 months to receive them  ...maybe.

yeah last thing you want to do is damage your sill huge $$$ involved i would put the stock steps back on till you get some sliders they look horrible but are handy if you have a cab rack and will protect your sills somewhat

Yeah good call guys, I'll probably chuck them back on the next time I go out just in case, then get some sliders.

Also, I've decided to get a bar for the front, nearly 100 percent on an ARB Sahara bar, tossing up though Wether to get it colour coded or not... Does anyone on here have pics of a blue hilux with a colour coded Sahara bar?

Cheers

Debating the same thing here... seen some pics of blue hiluxes with colour coded bars and sometimes think "is that too much blue?". I think the ARB bullbars initially come with a metallic grey powder coat which could look pretty decent too.

I reckon with all the black you've got going on there, a black bullbar will suit mate. Thought about a buds outback bar? If I was building a ute up for the purposes of offroad, thats what I would go with, along with a set go phat bar sliders.

Hey mate, yeah I might consider the black bar hey, I'll try to find some pics of what it will look like, just have the impression it might make it look a bit "fleet vehicle" or "industrial" if that makes sense? Saying that, the black will hide scratches etc better than blue I would assume...

And for these sliders, I know you have told me before, but where is your mate located again? I'm keen to have a chat to him about them...

Cheers again
