P2759 code

Postby cmilton54 on Tue, 19 Mar 2024 11:57 +0000

Hi have had a code with check engine and anti slip lights.
C2759 says Torque converter cluth pressue control solenoid control circuit electrical, has shown up.

Had codes cleared and came up again driving slow in a 60kms area.
It first came on after stopping and left vehicle idling for a couple of minutes, started and travelled a couple of kms and light came on, doing highway travel.
Drove the 180kms to home no problems, but doing a manual selector change, it would only go up to 5 gear, would not drop into 6/overdrive.

Ignore the antislip light as its automatically put on when the MIL (Check Engine Light) is turned on as the VSC/TRAC system is turned off when MIL is illuminated.

That code means:
* You have an open circuit or short to ground on the wiring from the ECM to the SLU (TC Clutch lockup) solenoid inside the gearbox,
* The SLU solenoid has failed, or
* An issue inside the ECM for that circuit.

First thing to check would be that the main connector to the gearbox is seated correctly and there is no obvious chaffing on the loom under the vehicle that could create a short.

To isolate any further would require a Multimeter, Scantool and pulling things apart so need to know what you are doing if DIY.

Thanks ptommo59

Had it to a auto elec today
They undone the plug and checked and reconnected, said it maybe a earth, but could not see any chaffing.

Took it for a 10km run and would only go up to 5th gear, slowed down to turn and lights back on.
Coming back it would only go to 4th, even manually up to 6th, but it would not change above 4th.

Could it be possible oil needs changing, that has been on my agenda to do, 135,000kms

Can't hurt to change the ATF and make sure its at correct level (needs to be checked at a specific temp) and see if that changes anything.

Hi ptommo59
That is my next step.
Spoke to Toyota about the filter and gasket, they asked if I had a torque converter lockout kit installed.
I have a Richards one installed I will ring them on Monday. they said sometimes that they cause a problem with the solidnoid, just another thing to ask about.
I turned the lockout switch off and after a little while the enginge revs started to go up and down by a couple of hundred revs, like it used to do before the kit was installed.
Still no 6th gear, but I still have engine light on so that is most likely why, ot the moment.
I need to find my scan gauge cord to turn code off instead of the garage.

Yes it will lockout overdrive and lockup until you manually reset the code.

If you have a lockup kit installed and its when its active it sets the code, it could be an issue with the big resistor they use to mimic the solenoid to stop the code from being generated or the wiring/connection to it.

If its happening when the lockup kit is on or off maybe check the plug to the lockup control box is seated correctly and any wiring joins in the lockup solenoid feed as there could be a faulty connection.

Hi Ptommo59

Rang Richards this morning, they said it maybe the resistor.
Told them I will be down to them in mid April, for them to check/fix then.
They said it is not a problem to use, but I will leave it turned off till then.

Thanks for your help, much appriciated.
