air filter cover on potential purchase

I'm looking to buy a 2018 Hilux SR low km for age & it has an air filter cover with a crazed/discoloured surface as below. Also there is a normal one typical of others of the same year shown for comparison. Apart from that, the vehicle appears in good nick from a brief checkover. Is this any cause for concern, maybe suggesting some more through inspection is required :?:

This "Deshining" is just a sign that the vehicle likely has a.few hours run time and is not something I'd be using as an indicator of overall vehicle condition.
If you're not necessarily mechanically inclined, I'd suggest looking for a trusted mechanic friend or a car buying service. The mutual Bank I use provides this service, but it costs more than it's worth to be honest. What's your location? Maybe I can help?

Thanks Rob,

It's from an ex-fleet sellout of 2018 models, & this one with the fewest km is the only one with an air cleaner cover like this. I'll get a mobile mechanic to visit the car yard (Perth) for an inspection, though don't want to send them to a car that can be seen on the dealer's photos that it has issues (a few hundred $$ for the inspection).

Buying second hand vehicle requires detailed inspection to check for possible issues. If you can't find anyone suitable locally I can help you out ... It'll only cost travel to Perth, possible accommodation costs, dependant on return trip timing plus any other expenses, plus reasonable fee, you suggested $300, sounds ok.

:) :) :)

Car hire company leasing out to a mining company. Reckons there is full service history though I haven't seen the book (I'm a long way from the car yard).

Correct. Used car buying is one of many complications in living remote. I am having to have the deal done (incl. accesories added & finance) for when I fly there. Just trying to minimize the number of vehicles I have to send a mobile mechanic to inspect (at a few hundred $$ a pop) before finding the one I buy.

Hhmmm, how far out of Perth are you, maybe $1000 plus expenses and I'll include delivery ... As long as you promise to help me get home again later. Does that sound OK? :) :) :)
Just remember I'm on the east coast so the penny pile won't be small. ;) :) ;)

Discoloration of the plastics could be due to heat.

As they are not paying for the fuel some people leave work cars idling all day, so it might have low km's but high hours.

My wife & daughter look at these forums with me. A little restraint would be greatly appreciated. Not at all happy with Steve241s language.

Just to put my 2cents worth... The original post and pix indicate to me that those marks on the air filter look more like some kind of cleaning chemicals have been used, like some folk have their light lenses hazing from chemical exposure. Some of these 'truck wash' chemicals contain high amounts of alkaline which causes damage. I can't see how heat could be the cause. It's possible that the undamaged one could have easily been a replacement part.

The air filter cover is a useful product that helps to improve the air quality inside the house or office. When purchasing an air filter cover, you should consider some of the following potential factors:
Hello
Right size: Make sure the air filter cover fits the size of the space you want to use it. If the cap is too small, the filtration efficiency may be reduced.
Filter types: There are different types of filters, such as HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air), activated carbon, ion, UV-C, and many more. Learn about how each works and consider which one mod apk android is right for your needs and environment.
Power and speed
Extras and Features: Some filter caps have additional features such as air sensor, pause mode, auto mode, and information system integration
Pin
Brands and reviews: Choose brands that are trustworthy and have positive user reviews to make sure you're buying a quality product.
Costs and warranties: Consider the manufacturer's pricing as well as the manufacturer's warranty and technical support policies.
Before purchasing an air filter cover, research and compare the options to choose the best one to suit your needs and budget.

Hi dundeedoogeroo, A damaged/discolored Air Filter Cover may indicate some past exposure or wear. While the car looks fine overall, it's a good idea to conduct a more thorough inspection to make sure there aren't any potential problems. ;)
