Maxtrax boards under the rear seats?

Postby usurp on Sun, 30 Oct 2022 1:46 +0000

Has anyone tried fitting a pair of recovery boards under the rear seats? I'm trying to figure out if I got them where I would be able to store them. If I put them in the truck bed I'm not sure how I can stop them from bouncing around so thinking under the back seats but don't know if there is enough room.

I have had the large max trak behind the rear seat ( using fold down hack ) of my '12 for so long I forgot I own a pair.

I always have a 24v compressor in the tub, so air up and down and have never been bogged !!!
In the market for

- Lokkas & someone to help me install it :)
- 24v Rattle gun - https://dewalt.com.au/products/dcf899hn ... -bare-unit
- 24v Freezer
- 24v Air Conditioner
- 24v Battery Pack - ozBATs.com

I got a local steel fabrication bloke to make up a couple of trays to sit underneath my ute tray. Takes 4 Maxtrax, and they're easy to get at without getting in the way of anything else.

Maxtrax boards under the rear seats?

Plenty of room behind the rear seat it’s access that’s a pain.
Can’t do the rear seat mod on a 15 plus like the pre 15’s.
If you carry tools (like a electric tech gun etc) it literally only takes 30 seconds or so to unbolt the rear seat and unhook it to put Stuff behind and then it’s a little bit of jiggling to rehook it in and line up the bolts but once you done it a few times as any installers on here will tell you it’s fairly quick and easy.
I have a 80l water bladder behind there as to how much it actually holds in place not sure exactly but I have never run out on a trip.

Seen plenty of parts mounted back there just removable stuff is the problem.

Just remember to consider "accessibility". If it's something you'll use a fair bit then they need to be fairly accessible. It's a great lit space for "Mounted" compressors, Redarc Electronics and stuff like that, but with my daughters Car Seat, it is nothing short of annoying when I have to get in there.
*Food for Thought*, your setup might be completely different.

Yeah it's not something I would use if ever, but would like to have it just in case I ever get stuck and nobody around to get me out.

Remember what state they are likely to be in when you go to put them back
I put mine behind the seat until the first time I used them
Have had them on the roof since
If your not prepared to stand behind our Troops
Then try standing in front of them

I agree who wants to put dirty tracks back in side the car and the hassle of getting them out and back in

well i can always throw them in the bed and then wash them before putting them back behind the seat. especially if this is something I would use maybe once a year.

Totally agree. When I was still fitting regularly if I had to mount anything behind or even under the seat you would think it was the end of the world if there were kids seats in the rear.

Mounted so much stuff behind and under the seats. Rangers even have a bracket you can get to mount a tiny optima battery under the rear seat in the dc. Mounted so many single compressors under rear seats in Hilux’s.
Big one I did had twin comp, linx unit, relays for roof light bar and camp lights. Pressure control valve, locker valves and a few other odds and ends. Looked bloody good and loved that it was all hidden and not taking up precious space in the tray or engine bay.
If you didn’t know it was there specifically you never would till you turned on the compressor.
