Moving a road plate over by towing it

Postby Steviegt on Mon, 29 Nov 2021 8:27 +0000

Hey Hilux team,
I was wondering if anyone can help me or any expert opinions.
I own a 2017 4x4 SR5 hilux.
A job im doing has involved getting the road cut open, the hole now has a 3m x 2.5m x25mm thick road plate covering it weighing 1.4 tonne. The excavator put this ioto place but has left the site as its no longer needed.
Ive got proper lifting chains from a crane which I can attach to my towball and the road plate.
My question is do you think I will be able to drag it a few metres to access the hole or do you think this is a bad idea?
Thanks heaps for any replies

Doing cowboy things on a worksite will cost you money if something goes wrong ,if the plate falls in the hole.
Without seeing it probably a bad idea. As a young bloke with my cowboy boots and hat on I was lucky I was sent to get gear while the trench caved in on my mate. Id go tell the customer we need to charge you for the machine to come back.

Chain around a tow ball that’s the first mistake. Only one thing on a tow ball and that’s a trailer.
