Looking for Advice

Hi all, I’m new to the forum and looking for some advice.
I’ve been a Hilux driver for over 30 years and currently have a 2007 SR5 3ltr diesel which I bought in 2008 and has given me no problems in approx 240,000ks.

I’m looking to upgrade and considering a new 2021 SR5 diesel but COVID has affected price and availability.
A local dealer has a 2015 2.8ltr SR5 in excellent condition at about $20k off the price of a new one. I’ve heard of DPF problems and aware that the latter 2015 models was the introduction of the 2.8 engine and subsequent issues.
Is it still worth considering or would I be better off biting the bullit with a 2021 model?

Appreciate your thoughts - chz Paul

Damn hard to find anything at the moment, and some are are dearer used than new. I’ve been looking to replace my 2011 Hilux too but a new one won’t work as they no longer sell a V6 one so looking at Ram1500’s - they are at the moment at least $15000 dearer used than new price. Even Y62 Patrol Ti were $65k new a year ago, now $88k. I’ve decided to wait until things hopefully settle down a bit and then prices stabilise.

Mate if you do end up buying that one, make sure they replace DPF, DPF injector housing and update the software as per Toyota fix.

If you want to have forever and don't have annual inspections then fine. Otherwise its an legal mod.
