hilux cut out

Postby Hobbit873 on Tue, 08 Dec 2020 9:09 +0000

i have a 2013 hilux d4d pulling up to a set of lights car just cut out, no warning no surging just straight cut out. car now just cranks and wont fire. checked fuel and primes up good, checked fuses and relays, have no fault codes. tried disconnecting battery for a bit. has 160000km on it. just strange that had no warning leading up to it... anyone have any ideas?

No lights on the dash? What has been done to the vehicle lately? Filled up with fuel? Service, filter change or any other work? Do you know how to drain the fuel filter? If so, check for water in the fuel. Your manual shows how. When you say checked fuel, what did you check?

Did you check for water in the fuel? When you prime the filter does it go hard, is it hard before pumping?
It's unlikely to be electrical because it was running and cut out... Most likely fuel related.

Yes scv possible or supply pump (on the engine)

Unfortunately when you disconnected the battery you lost all the pending codes, otherwise you could check for codes. If you have or mate has obd scanner it may show something.

Unfortunately the codes are only stored after engine starts. That's why I keep my scanner in the vehicle at all times.
