2021 Hilux

Postby miklemas on Mon, 21 Sep 2020 4:43 +0000

G'day all.

Has anyone fitted a Bullbar to the new 2021 SR5 Hilux?

I have been told by some manufacturers that there products are still being made to fit this model. It is early days.

I was at my dealer the other day and actually saw where they had performed a bumper cut to fit a GENUINE Toyota Bull bar on the latest model. These are Toyota Technicians and they did a clean job but I wasn't aware that hacking the front of a brand new car was nescessary.
Now I'm guessing if Toyota are cutting factory bumpers to fit there own genuine product most other manufacturers will more than likely do the same. The grill is definitely larger than previous models, however the mounting brackets are still the same location.
Any feedback appreciated, in particular, what bar are you going to go with.

Actually that's the usual approach. I knew when the OEM bar went onto my 2016 model there would be no going back.
It took a long time before recovery points & aftermarket winches became available to fit the genuine bars on gen 8, I don't know what's different with the new versions but keep it in mind if you go that way.

GENUINE Toyota Bull bar is a fallacy unfortunately. They just rebrand stock from other suppliers.

When I had issues with the fitment of a GENUINE Toyota Bull bar for my old Prado. They blamed the supplier. I had it removed and my money refunded and the car returned to stock.

You're better off going with and aftermarket bullbar.

Just because its Genuine doesn't make it good, or fit well.

For gen 8 Hilux that is not correct. Like other components Toyota outsource the bars from a specialist manufacturer, in this case I believe ARB factory, but built to Toyota design/specifications. It's not available from anywhere else, and completely different to anything else available aftermarket including from ARB retail stores.

That's why for example the ARB recovery points won't fit and winch compatible versions only take the Toyota version Warn etc.

Yeh and I bet they charge you more for the Genuine Toyota bar versus the ones available from ARB themselves.

Probably not. They cut my front end to fit mine on a 2016.

I emailed arb. Old bars won’t fit new model. Recovery points will fit. Bar needs to be modified due to front and rear senors on new models. Should be available soon.

Rogue and Rugged prices have been released.... a solid 20% increase apparantly. Crazy

Toyota are losing the plot with pricing, the Yaris almost increased by 50% earlier this year. Not sure what they are thinking. Will they finally give it all up to the Korean brands?

Its all good.
You know that sinking feeling that you had when they screwed on the number plates and you knew instantly that you've just lost $5k before driving out of the forecourt of the dealership.

Well i'm guessing you just picked up $2.5K if you have a 2016/17/18/19 model
Used prices will go up on Hilux

Driveway no more to pay in WA

SR $59139
SR 5 $67400
SR 5 $70062 (leather interior)
Rogue $77059
Rugged X $78124

All above: 4x4, Auto, 2.8 Diesel, Dual cab utes
The new prado will be @ GX landcruiser 200 series prices ......It comes out with stop/start functionality

The thinking people will wait until mid Jan-early Feb when they do the " free onroads" deal, saving $4k

Don’t be a tight arse! You mean to tell me that your going to drop at least 60 big ones on a new Hilux, assuming you go for something on the high end of the scale, and you want to bitch out on $500 worth of plastics???

Don’t get me wrong, I am all for saving money, but are you going to miss $500 in amongst $60000?

Hi Mac, the gen 7,8 etc. are the series, current being gen8 as you can see in the board index above, gen 8 is 2015 to present. Not sure about the extras fitting but probably will as they are still the same series.
