Replacing the tailgate

Hey Y'all

The tailgate on my 2016 Lux has been pranged a few times and is going to cost a few $$ to repair but I have a chance on buying a 2019 tailgate and was wondering if anyone knew if it was a straight swap? Got a quote for approx $1200 to repair and it has copped another anonymous dent from a carpark since so looking like it'll be cheaper to replace. Thoughts anyone???

you should be able to grab a whole tub for $100 to $400
i picked up a tub a month or so ago, its still sitting at home waiting for me to find the time to do the swap.
the newer tail gates are lockable, i got mine from toyota... they strip everything out (reverse camera, tail lights etc) but managed to score one that still had the key in the tailgate.
I imagine there will be some stuffing about pulling the camera out of my tailgate and putting it in the new one.

also not looking forward to undoing all the bolts etc to do the swap, a mate helped me install an easy down strut years ago and getting some of the bolts undone was a mission!
