Toyota hilux as first car advice needed?

Postby Spagr on Wed, 02 Sep 2020 4:40 +0000

Hi guys

I'm turning 17 soon and I'm thinking of going for a Hilux as first car (will get bad credit loans for it) but haven't checked insurance ? Anyone had any experience with insurance on Hilux at my age? Are Hilux good day to day vehicles.

Many thanks.

Hi Spagr, it really depends on what you want to use it for and where you live.
Having had two Hiluxes for the past dozen years I have found them to be very reliable and fit for the purpose I had in mind - lots of outback travel towing a small/medium camper, and local use in my home area getting a bit of firewood or carting the golf clubs around. Reliable and competent, though my first one was not the most comfortable thing on the road.
But if you live in the city and are just wanting something for use driving around town or on the highway, then obviously there are many better options for fuel economy, ride quality, ease of parking etc - for that we have had eight Subarus, and every one of them a gem.
Cheers,

Isn’t Santa Clara in California or Cuba?
