Weld review on rocksliders

Postby lynchyknight on Sun, 30 Aug 2020 11:12 +0000

Hi all!

I bought my Hilux in Townsville and previous owner had rocksliders he never installed, I have finally found the company that produce it and can get a kit and get them fitted for $350 total.

The problem I have run into is that looking up some reviews I have seen that they can sometimes be produced with bad quality welds. I know absolutely nothing about welds so I am going to post some pictures up and see if anyone can tell me if it will be worth my time and money posting the rock sliders from Townsville to Brisbane then spending the money on the kit and fitting.

Welds don't look too bad but that bottom bar is dodgy.

Thanks for the reply Richard, do you mean the bar that is on an angle from the rest of them? I thought it would have been made like this possibly to avoid something in the under carriage.

Nothing there to avoid, it's just shoddy workmanship. You wont see it once they're fitted so no big deal.

No worries at all! thanks mate, do you think it would still work perfectly as a rockslider?

They’ll be fine mate (as long as your not building a winch challenge truck)
Just another case of you get what you pay for ;)

Thanks mate, I'm glad they came with my Hilux and I didn't pay for the myself, in all honesty I might try and sell them up north then buy the Ultimate rock sliders from Dominator 4x4 as it won't end up being much more by the time I get those down here and I have seen MUCH better reviews from Dominator.
