A good deal? I've watch some reviews - $60k plus for an SR5 is a lot of money, I dont think we'll be seeing any discounts in the near future.

On paper, they have made some good improvements. Very happy to see a good level of safety equipment as well.
I might be wrong.

What safety stuff they updated?

I got a 2020 model for 53k in June... Was gonna wait until I heard it'd be about another 10k for the 2021 model....

Lane Departure Alert, active steering assist (or Lane Keep Assist), AEB with pedestrian and cyclist detection (between 10km/h and 80km/h) is set to be complemented by blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a 360-degree parking camera on more expensive trims.

Good 'on-road' safety stuff standard basically.

Any links to the rear cross-traffic alert and 360 degree parking camera?

Lots of good improvements in the new model.
But according to https://www.toyota.com.au/hilux/prices its a solid $13k more expensive than previous model.

It's riding on it's brand status. The DMAX looks like a very good option now.

I'd be keen to get one though. Either that or a prado.

Yeh it matches the Ranger now in power specs, but the Ranger is still cheaper.

I had a drive of one and noticed that the back seat doesn't fold down. You could do a mod a couple of generations ago to access behind the seats. Does any one know if you can still do this?

Pretty sure its to do with the child restraint ISO points it now comes with. Doubt you can make it fold down anymore.

Wonder how much it would be to fit the new radio to the previous model.

Ronny Dahl has a new model.
Says he bought it.
I reckon "heavily discounted".

What a smart move by Toyota. First buckle under class action and offer 10 year DPF warranty, then get one of the main influencers to "buy" one and use him to talk down main threats and competitor on the market now which is new D-Max (as seen in his latest video).

Nicely done.

Yeh in the video he says he had to pull some strings to get it so quickly.

He did make an interesting point also, the new model has more power and torque (probably higher in the rev band though) than the 79 series V8, which sounds crazy.

Yeah but many euro diesels make 1vd 200 series power out of just 3ltrs. My old X5 (2006 model) had a 3ltr straight 6, twin turbo diesel that made 200km and 650nm - same as the twin turbo 1vd.

The 1vd is a bit of a lazy dog

Yeh but how hardy are those euro diesels in comparison? Good power but last about 150,000km ?

Hit and miss like anything. Some of the bmw engines are money pits, others like the M57 series of diesel 6cyls are very solid. When mine was lost to a hail storm it had 230,000kms on it. It needed new glow plugs but all else was good.

I worked with a woman whos hubby owned an indy VW workhop. He was rusted solid to the VW brand but he was honest enough to say that some of the engines were junk but others would easily get 500,000 kms.
