Aftermarket seats for N80

Postby grunf on Tue, 16 Jun 2020 6:45 +0000

As per topic title, I am looking for a company or installer who are selling and installing aftermarket seats for N80 hilux.
Getting sick and tired of the factory benches they call seats, particularly on long drives.

I am not looking to modify or reupholster existing factory seats.

Can anyone recommend someone in Melbourne?

Recaro Ergomed. The Aussie distributor is in Melbourne but any ARB store can fit them. Very easy to fit though, just find another Toyota wreck with its seat airbags deployed and cut the seat side airbag harnesses out of it (I got mine out of a crashed Camry Taxi). Graft it to the Recaro seat, plugs straight into the plug under the seat. Get 12V to the seat for the electrics. You also need to swap the seat belt buckle over. Passenger seat is a bit more stuff around as it has an arse detector in it that you have to transfer over.
Apart from fitting an Engel fridge the Recaro was the best comfort mod I made to mine. They are hard to get in and out of but you can do it easily once you figure it out.

Thanks mate.
One would think that if ARB stores are selling them and fitting them I should not have to butcher and "hack" other seats to make it work?

Are the SR5 seats any better?

I've also been wondering if the prado 150 has the same bolt pattern..? I have access to a 150 next door but haven't got around to measuring it up yet.

Also... website probably needs an update for the Gen8 but might be worth calling them:

I might be wrong.

2009 BMW X5 - destroyed by a hail storm
2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 - SOLD

I've searched hi and low and there doesn't seem to be any aftermarket seats or adapters for the N80.
Anyone know if the Prado or 200 will fit?
