2017 SR5 Steering wheel silver trim removal

I'm brand new here so apologies if I don't follow the correct etiquette.
I have tried searching for this and I can't seem to find anything on the topic.
As stated I am trying to remove the U-shaped silver plastic trim on the steering wheel (I have painted all the other silver pieces, this is the last one left) and I can't seem to get access to it.
Is there any way to easily (and safely) remove the airbag and get this piece out??
I have no idea how to put photos up in this thread so I pray that you will know what I am talking about
