Lightbar advice

Postby rudyy on Wed, 25 Sep 2019 3:36 +0000

Hi everyone,
I I have a second battery in my 2016 Gen 8 which only gets used when we do a trip and then only mainly runs the fridge. I am looking to have 2 lightbars installed but was wondering if I am better off having them connected to the second battery so that it gets to do more work as well as taking the load off the main battery?
Or is there no advantage and just connect to the main battery?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation.

Main battery . Most 2nd battery charging systems are only trickle chargers and require driving for several hours to maintain charge. If your doing short trips and using your light bars you will end up flattening the 2nd battery.

Oggy is bang on! Unless ya running a solenoid type isolator and not a charger the your battery is essentially only being charged at 25amp at best in most cases and ya lights will be pulling more than that. Just connect to the main battery man and let the alternator handle it.
