When did that happen? I haven't received any letter from Toyota as yet, was it via email?.

"This warranty extension applies to customers who may have experienced an issue with the DPF system which may present as substantial white smoke discharged during the regeneration process or the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may illuminate and in some cases, as a precautionary measure, engine power may be reduced (‘limp home’ mode)."

So you need to experience an issue already?

Also got the class act email today as well.

Now that Toyota has admitted to the DPF issue and extended the warranty. Would it void my warranty if I add a DPF back 3" exhaust or Steinbauer module or throttle controller for that matter? I mean, they have already admitted the DPF might cause issues with 100% standard equipment in any case. Anyone had any trouble dealing with Toyota regarding DPF issues while having similar aftermarket accessories fitted?

Just got this in the mail. Looks like the class action is making Toyota sweat. Short story long, 10yr unlimited km warranty on the DPF. For the record I have had no issues with mine.

Looks like it only applies to vehicles produced until the 31/05/2018.

We've heard from an insider on this forum that Toyota NZ is months ahead of Aus on their DPF service campaign...and there is no class action there.
And the same insider also provided details of a number of other service campaigns that are proceeding business as usual...also without class actions.
This would appear to suggest that if anything the class action has only slown down Toyota's response on the DPF for the rest of us here.

Does NZ get the 10 year warranty too?
Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.

My vehicle was made in Jan 2020.... How do I know what fixes it has? It has the manual dpf button, but no idea about the injector housing....

If it doesn't have any fixes, should u be pushing to get them?

Very good questions we are all pondering.

The housing is identical externally, the only clues I've seen were here in these posts: viewtopic.php?f=122&t=28654&start=240#p432470
Mine is a Nov 2016 build and the housing happens to have the same number as Grunf, however there are also other numbers stamped on other early housings so it's very vague.

Best ring your dealer and ask. I'm getting mine upgraded, the dealer was very helpful when I rang.

Do you have dpf symptoms though? Will they replace if you don't?

I'm confused shouldn't this be a recall? Forgive me for not being legal savvy or does the class action lead to a recall?? Surely if the DPF is not doing it's job then its not fit for purpose! recall! I have no idea how this works!! Aus, NZ where else is affected?

Class action doesn't in itself lead to a recall unless it's considered a safety issue which the dpf is not! Class action is more about compensation and damages.
Recall is mostly a decision of the manufacturer unless it's safety related then it's up to the regulators.

The class action letter arrived yesterday, it would be interesting to know how many people sign up and how many opt out.

Just booked in for a service - was told they would need it for a full day as they had to do a recall on it as well. I asked what recall, and they said they were replacing the DPF. Was a bit surprised it was just happening, but I'm not complaining. Hopefully the new bits will just work and I don't get any issues.
Anyone else had it just done, or have you had to ask?
