Has anyone else experienced a high pitched whislting sound when you have air set to fresh, goes away when recirculate mode selected.

Sounds like a leaf stuck somewhere. Take the polen filter out a have a look and feel around. Run the fan and if you can track it down.

I had the same issue with mine - as per usual, it resulted in a "discussion" with the dealer after they insisted it was just a leaf.
Turned out to be the fan motor - replaced under warranty.

Hope you get it fixed!

EU user - had my fan replaced once already. It was a bushing but due to warranty they had to replace the whole fan. It appeared again after some time. I might leave it as it is and replace it before warranty wears off if it doesn't get worse.

Must be a common-ish issue, the second time I just mentioned to my dealer that the fan was starting to get noisy again and at the next service they had already ordered one and just swapped it.

The annoying thing is I think the replacements are the same model, so the issue isn't fixed, just delayed. Now my ute is out of warranty, so when it gets noisy again I'll have to pay :-(

Probably you can just replace the bushing or even look for a high quality bearing to fit in. This is what I'd do.

I'm headed in for my second Blower Fan replacement. I bought my Hillux in 2016, first blower fan with the dreaded high pitch ticking replaced in June 2018 and now that replacement is being replaced under warranty again next week.

Toyota had originally tried to charge me $892.00 for the second replacement, but with further discussion and the notion that under Australian Consumer law the parts supplied were of inferior quality all is now sorted. I also understand there is a Toyota Service Bulletin posted in relation to blower fan issues.

BTW for reference the part number for the Motor Sub-Assy is T87103-0K380.

Cheers

I had TWO fans replaced as well.
First one last year and then soon after that new one started making that chirpy cricket noise again.

Last month I had that one replaced as well. Dealership advised me that the replacement fans there were given by Toyota last year were not good as well, so there is a newest batch which apparently are up to a good standards.

"Awesome" work by Toyota, how can we expect them to fix any other issues when it takes them three fans to get the damn thing right?
