2016 onwards SR5 4x4 Hilux

Just want to get people's opinions on these in general. Looking at maybe grabbing a low kM V6 auto example and supercharging it to replace my 2011 that is reaching what I see as higher kM (just hit 135000).

Looking at the vehicle itself, not interested in anything diesel related. So suspension, how it drives, brakes etc. Obviously I'd be fitting good suspension (like Ultimate), a decent canopy if I can find one with big gullwing side doors etc. How comfortable is the interior?

Drives well. I have done some long distances in it and it isn't fatiguing.
Steering and brakes are good. Parking brake is just there for looks.
My complaints are probably personal. I dislike the tablet style head unit......i always seem to hit the the wrong button/control. Its impossible over bumpy ground. The steering has reach and tilt, but if your a tall guy 6' plus and have the seat all the way back, you run out of arms. So you need to make a compromise.

I have the diesel, so cant tell you about the petrol version.

Thanks mate. I am 6’5”. My 2011 has a Recaro Ergomed driver’s seat because of the reason you describe. I could fit it to the later shape.

I do not like the look of the new shape at all, but functionally trumps looks for me!

My biggest concern is brakes, the 2011’s weren’t good but the earlier shape has the benefit of 100% legal TRD upgrade and can be self Engineered. The later shape would need Engineering to upgrade them if they are too small.

Can 17” rims be fitted to these?

They are a fantastic car mate. Light years ahead of the N70. The brakes are fine unless you drive a 4WD ute like you’re in a Porsche.

16s fit.

Yes 17" can be fitted without any mods. I have a set of TRD wheels (previous model shape) on it now running 265/65/17 so same rolling diameter as the factory 265/60/18.
