Front bumper and grille conversion

Postby Aarontalbot187 on Mon, 10 Dec 2018 9:51 +0000

Hey guys. I’ve just bought a 2016 sr5 and wanting to convert the front end to the 2018 facelift model has anyone done this?
Have seen a few kits around just not to sure if there any good and if it’s the full front bumper or just a cover up

Hope to hear some feedback cheers

I've ordered some parts from my dealer hoping to do the same upgrade. As far as we can tell its the bumper cover, lower 'skid plate' and grill, foglight covers, main grill (although the badge is insanely expensive as it has a camera in it now for radar criuse control I think so hoping to reuse the normal one), and the wheel arch liners, which definitely look different. Waiting for the main grill as its on backorder to get it all fitted up but as far as I can tell it should all bolt straight on.

Hi Dan, Im in the process of upgrading my SR5 2017 - I had a look at the wheel arch liners and they seems to be the same for the 2017/18 models. Are you 100% sure I need to replace these? Also would anyone be able to point me to the cut out templates for the new bumper to install the alloy nudge bar?

Still waiting for some parts to arrive so haven't had a chance to put it together. I checked the grill and the pre 2017 badge definitely fits. There may also be the plastic sections behind the upper grill which join it to the radiator. Supposedly they are different too. I'll update as soon as I know what fits and what doesn't need replacing.

Thanks Dan, I purchased the grille and bumper 2nd hand, here in Aussie the blokes replace the bumpers with aluminium ones, so there are always some bumpers available, I was lucky as the guys I bought from replaced his grille with a TRD grille, so got both. I also look under the vehicle and although there are very small differences in the bumpers below, I recon it’s should be a plug and play. I’ll be doing the swap this weekend, and will keep you updated on what my findings are. Cheers.

My [*]Mate has a white bumper and grill for sale off a 2018 facelift
And I’ll have a sliver one off a 2019 soon if anyone is interested in upgrading to the face lift bumper and grill?

Just did my upgrade, took me about 2 hours including the nudge bar. Only the bumper and grill are needed. The wheel arch sub assemblies are slightly to short for the new bumper but barely visible, not going to spend $150 for something you can’t see. Overall great result, looks great.
