Removing a well body to fit enclosed canopy

Postby Markdavo on Fri, 18 May 2018 8:15 +0000

I'm in metro Perth and am considering a 2015/16 SR with the intention (at the moment) of removing the well body from a suitable low kms good condition vehicle to fit a canopy by either Bull Motor Bodies, Bosston or Roscos.

Is there anyone out there who has done this and what have these companies charged just to remove the well body?

Cheers and thanks,

I’d imagine that any custom tray / canopy builder would commonly get delivered a car with tub still attached. Reckon they’d have it off in under an hour so would be cheap. Maybe ask them how much extra ?

I'm looking at doing this later in the year and got an itemised quote. Tub removal is not listed anywhere, so I'm pretty sure they just include it in the fitting price. Assuming that almost nobody is rocking up with a bare chassis behind the cab.

Thanks for your replies. Yes, I intend to get an itemised quote.

Hey Mark just saw this and am thinking of getting rid of the tub and putting on a canopy in a couple of months time. Who did you end up going with and how did you find the finished product? Myn isn’t a work vehicle - purely for camping and off-road use.

Cheers

Hi Mate,
I've just had a custom tray fitted, and it was upto 2 hrs labour to remove the original tub.
But they didn't want the old one, they had a pile of current trays Toyota, Ford etc.
Just removed it myself with a couple of mates to lift it off, took about an hour and a couple of beers.
Then just zip-tied the original tail lights and number plate and drove it out to them 400K's
Possible trailer down the track.
Cheers
