As everyone’s well aware that many Hilux’s are having issues with their DPF’s, I thought it would be interesting to collect some information to see how many are affected and if there is a trend in any problems occurring.
If people could respond with the following.

Km DPF issues occurred: 38,000kms it started blowing lots of white blueish smoke whilst doing a burn. Already had latest software updates 18,000kms proir. Toyota did a manual regeneration burn and ordered a new DPF just waiting for it to arrive. Fuel usage has been creeping up the last 5,000kms.

Bit of advice, the DPF needs to burn properly so it won't have any issues. I drive over 90kms every day (excluding weekends unless I go for a bush bash) and I haven't had a DPF issue. Mate of mine at work drives 80kms every day in his 2015 Lux that has 130,000kms on the clock and he hasn't had any issues with his DPF since new

Been fine up until about 3000 ks ago, it just constantly burns now with lots of smoke, and I drive 100km a day on freeway so it has plenty of time to do it’s thing. Toyota said it’s cactus and I’m currently waiting for new one to arrive.

On 21000 km the car starts smoking when doing a burn but not every burn. Reports the issue to Toyota and the DPF was replace without any issues on 30 000km service. Apparently the old ECU software caused the DPF to reach to high temperatures during the burn off process damaging the DPF. Toyota said they will replace the DPF till the problem is solved. Best ute ever driven love the Hilux

Just found this thread trying to figure out why my SR5 has been blowing smoke all the time lately. Just had a service and wasn't mentioned. Will be calling today.
In the mornings, this seems to happen almost everyday at the same place (coming up a hill to a LHT at roundabout, 8-9 mins into trip) does anyone know if the burn occur at a specific time into a trip, or when a certain set of conditions are met?

rob09, DPF needs to burn properly. Anything above 75-80kms will do the job. People who own a HiLux and do city driving all the time (not saying that you're doing that) and only travel a maximum of 25-30kms every day are going to needs DPFs even after the warranty expiry date

Thanks, I do spend most of my time in town, about 80km/day and a couple of 80 km/h sections.

I noticed blue/white smoke beginning to happen a few weeks back and now it is beyond a joke how much smoke is produced. We have a fleet of roughly 40 hilux and praxis with 2.8lt motor. Slowly but surely they are all having this issue. Some even going into limp home mode.
Mine is currently at Toyota for a temp repair awaiting parts from Toyota on a 2 month back order. Not happy.
