Carpet Behind Rear Seat

Postby oftenaround on Thu, 15 Feb 2018 10:32 +0000

My Gen8 SR dual cab Hilux only has part of the wall behind the rear seat insulated/carpeted. With the rear seat removed road noise is considerably louder. I have seen pictures of other new Hilux's where the whole wall is fully carpeted. Has anyone else noticed this or is it a SR / SR5 variation?

With the seat bottoms folded up it is easy to see whether it is fully carpeted to the floor or not. Would be interested to know whether Toyota made an improvement along the way. I intend to add some insulation over the bare metal to make it quieter.

Better off using dynamat or the like. I have the carpet/rubber backing but still dynamatted the rear to improve noise and more importantly the bass from the sub!

I have a 2017 SR 2.8L Dual cab. There is no carpet behind the back seats. There is a full covering under the back seats though.
Noise is not an issue in this fourby cabin.

I just took seat out to see if I could fit a 200Ah slimline battery in behind seats. the rear wall has to lumps of protruding carpet poking out. Doesn't seem to be anything behind them. can I cut these away, or squash down?
