Hi guys,
I've just bought a premium bulbar for my 2017 hilux and want to put a winch into it. I've been told that only Toyota winch's fit which are a warn and l don't like them as l've had one fail before. But they want about $2,200 for a steel cable winch. can anyone give me the dimensions of the cradle so l can look around to see what else fits or let me know what does fit please.
Cheers guys

Um I’m gonna make a big assumption here but here it goes.
Yes the toyota winch is a Warn. Very odd to here you had one fail. What type and what failed outta curiosity?
As for what else fits? Easy pretty much everything, warn zeon winch is a big beast. And warn and pretty much every other manufacturer worth their salt use the same bolt pattern. As long as toyota have not asked warn to make it vehicle specific which is highly unlikely.
So you shouldn’t have much trouble. Just keep in mind you may need to clock the motor and/or the clutch housing.

Thanks l'm not sure the type as it was years ago now but it seized up half way up a steep hill and l had to unhook and go backwards down the hill.

I was told by my dealership that the Warn winches come with steel or synthetic cables and that the front springs are also changed for heavier springs at the time of fitting to compensate for the extra weight of the winch. Food for thought with your choices Warren.

For $2,200 you could get an ironman bar and a 'non warn' winch with rope.

Yeah they change the springs , put a cradle on and the winch fitting kit all comes to around $1,300 and then they want $2,200 for the winch and as the bulbar cost about $2,200 which starting to think l shouldn't have put the genuine bar on

I've got a T-Max 10,000 lb sitting in the original packaging in my shed. I bought it after bogging ol' trusty (75 series) in an arm of Lake Disappointment many years ago during a trip down the CSR. Slight deviation :D

Never got around to fitting it, and to be quite honest I have always found other ways to get myself back out of Ship Creek. ;)

I was considering fitting it to the new Lux but after all the drama of changing front springs and considering how often I might need it I'm leaning a bit to not fitting it at all.

We'll see.

Cheers

Hey guys, I've got a 2018 with Steel Bullbar, how do you guys fit a winch in it? Quite like the ironman ones
