Pandora Shutting Down In Australia

Postby CoastalPainting on Fri, 14 Jul 2017 3:37 +0000

So Pandora won't be available in Australia on July 31st, 2017.
With the SR5 having the app on the head unit I would be interested to see if Toyota replace it with another app or just remove it completely.

Little point in continuing in AU/NZ for them as we're a very small percentage in comparison to their US growth.

I was told this when I picked up my SR on Tuesday. Dealer said that they aren't planning on removing the app from the head unit apparently

Would be nice if they replaced it with Spotify.
Tried Pandora once and I thought it was rubbish in comparison.

Message from Toyota....
The music streaming service Pandora recently announced it will discontinue its Australian operations, effective from the 31st of July, 2017. Unfortunately as a result, the Pandora in-vehicle functionality via Toyota Link will cease to operate from this date.

Toyota Australia will make an update available to remove the Pandora app from vehicles that have this app installed. This will be available through the Apple® App Store® and Google Play™ by the 31st of July.

Toyota Australia are dedicated to providing guests with the latest technology and experiences when owning a Toyota vehicle and assure you that we are working on providing your vehicle with a suitable alternative.

Don't use Pandora, Spotify etc anymore. I have a work supplied windows phone and free music unlimited for Free only occasional add pop up on the screen when searching. Can even download and save off line music. Just Bluetooth.Windows may be a crap phone but you even get apps for free movies with latest releases and app for TV so I can watch live footy, f1, v8 no adds and no Foxtel charges.

If I ever go back to android or apple ph will keep a windows phone and connect via hotspot

I don't understand why they don't have CarPlay and Android Auto like most of the other manufacturers. Having a dealer have to update the navigation maps or add and remove apps is so 5 years ago. This problem wouldn't happen if Toyota just followed the trend. I've tried not having CarPlay in my new SR5 for a month and I can't do it. The head unit has to go. Their last line about providing the latest technology has to be a joke.

Have a read of this article about that exact topic; I was wondering the same until I read this: https://www.carsales.com.au/editorial/n ... ple-105301

Yep same here, pandora removed, not replaced with anything. Wish they would add Spotify, but i doubt they will add anything.

3 Years of subscription to Pandora internet radio is / was included with your new Toyota, I have used 2 months of it and now nothing.
To be fair, Toyota should offer some kind of replacement.
