Postby Lux2.8 on Mon, 05 Jun 2017 12:23 +0000

Hey guys im new hear. So i have 2016 sr 2.8 dual cab 4x4 with a 2 inch dobinson lift, winch, bullbar and rear bar. My question is i wanna fit 275×70 on rhe standard sr rims. Will i have any problems with fitting these? Upper cintrol arm seems very close even with standard tyres. Cheers any info would be

http://www.tyresizecalculator.com/tyre- ... dimensions

If you use this you can see that a 17inch rim size will give you a 25mm smaller tire size and 79mm overall circumference less.

I guess you can only go by what the 18r blokes have done knowing that if they can you should be right with 17r's. Either that or try at your local shop and then come back with your real world results.

I have a tyre question.
When I eventually change my 265/65/R18 tyres can I go to the taller 265/70/R18 without any rubbing issues?
Has anyone already done this to a new gen 8 model and if so was there any issue?
Cheers,
Tone

I just fitted 265×70 on my 17 inch sr rims and its pretty close to upper control arm. You should be right as your not going any wider.

I'll ask again because I really want to know, has anyone got 265/70/R18 tyres on their hilux?

And if so any problems?

i'm just about to go back to the 18" rims (from 20's, too rough and cant get enough tyre for softness) and im putting on the new Falken AT3 in 275/65, I have a 2" lift but with a steel ARB so there's a bit of sag, I will let you know how they go

So I've now fitted the Falken AT3 in 275/65 on the 18" Toyota rims, no scrubbing, these are actually quite a tall tyre and look heaps better than the 60 profile A/T's I see on many SR5's. Remember I have an OME front 2" lift which has sagged a bit with the ARB Summit bar, the ride is now better than the 20" rims I pulled off with 50 profile A/T's.

Careful around police radar until you get the speedo calibrated you will be faster than stock.
Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.

On my last car (FJ) I went up one tyre profile from stock and the speedo was bang on afterwards. On this Hilux I went up one profile and it is reading under by 3% so I agree, be conscious of your speeds after increasing tyre size on this model.

Thanks creaky and don't trust your satnav until you know, satnav is reasonably accurate but not always. 3% under at 100ks is around 103+/- so if the copper ain't friendly look out ;)

Hey mate, i've seen this done before. a 2" lift allows plenty of fitment for a 275/70r17 and it seemed to have no problem.

I checked on the GPS and it seems almost spot on maybe slightly under, the 65 profile in the 275 width Falken AT3 is quite a tall tyre
