My car details and most of accessories are in my signature.

From when filled all the way to the cap the fuel gauge drops to "Full" after 384km, I then refilled 43 liters (again all the way). From then fuel gauge dropped to 3/4 full after 530 km (did not refill this time). Then, fuel gauge dropped to 1/2 after driving for 764 km, refilled 85 liters.

As you can see I have quite a lot of accessories.
I do not drive "baby sit" the car and I drive the car in "power" mode all the time, just suits my driving style.

Sounds about right grunf. That equals basically 9km per liter.
Heavy loaded I get 8.5 and unloaded 9.0

Eco or power don’t make much of a difference to fuel used
it basically makes the throttle response very aggressive or tame.

Is that all the mode switch affects - throttle position mapping? No impact on (auto) transmission - shift points, etc?

Yes mate, I am happy with the figures. I like driving in "power" mode and actually with my driving style I calculated that I am using slightly less fuel in "power" mode. (Measured and compared over the same distances and road stretch and used same petrol station pump - numerous times).

As far as I know. As for the auto I can’t confirm. I only drive a manual enough to make comment.
I drive in eco all the time because I just find in Sydney your in a hurry to get nowhere would be a different story if I lived in open country. I hate traffic here.

Another update for ARB Frontier tank.

When fuel gauge dropped to 1/4 full, I added 116 liters of diesel (filled to the brim), distance traveled was 1055 km.

Can any one tell me how much further the 140l frontier hangs down past the chassis compared to original tank?
or can someone post up some photos?
I cant decide between the frontier or the long ranger. I have gouged a descent slice in the original tank, not leaking but one more hit and it will be.
Any help will be appriciated.
Thanks

Have a Frontier tank in my Hilux for over a year now, all going well with no issue on a trip up through the Pilbara and Kimberley. I fitted it myself, but was thankful that I had a vehicle hoist and spare par of hands to help the process along.

I have the 140lt Frontier nonmetallic tank fitted for over a year now. I regularly get 1350kms and add 125-130lts depending upon how much off road driving I've been doing. Since August 2018 fuel consumption has ranged from 8.4 to 11.7 lt/100kms with average 10.1.

I'm very happy overall and have gained confidence in the range I can get and when I need to look to refuel.

Cheers, Mark

I am currently looking at getting a long range tank. I am really keen on the ARB frontier tank or the Brown Davis plastic tank as they are plastic and lighter. Only thing that would worry me is no drain plugs on plastic tanks. Is this something that I should actually worry about ?

In my experience if you get in the situation where you need to drain the tank you'll usually want to clean it out anyway which means removing it so in which case a drain is handy but not essential.

Factory tanks also don't have drain plugs and it is not an issue to millions of drivers.

Even if you did need to drain it. It's no biggy. Simply unbolt the sender unit and syphon or suck the fuel out. Then you can get in with a clean rag to give it a wipe if you want. Lot easier than the factory tank with the "nut".

Can't find it right now but someone here used the fuel return line to pressurise the tank with a compressor to drain the fuel via the supply line. Sounds like a simple way to do it. :D
Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.

Just a note on fuel usage.
I tow a camper around 1000kg.
According to the trip computer I pretty much get just under 8km per litre towing in 3rd (4speed auto) at 90 to 100 on bitumen.
On a recent trip I was forced by weather to travel through the night from woomera north. I never plan on travelling an night so havent put lights on the ute which limited my speed to 70 kph because of the roos.
I was amazed to see the fuel usage stayed above 11 km per litre. Made it to the Territory border by dawn when we pulled up for a sleep till the light conditions were better then continued on to Alice at higher speeds.
So the frontier tank was filled at Ceduna and got us to Alice without having to stop for fuel.
Have never travelled without towing with the tank but imagine in overdrive and low loads it would last for ever.
