Hilux 240v socket

Postby alexned on Fri, 23 Dec 2016 2:44 +0000

Hey guys, had a search but couldn't find anything related.
Just wanted to know what you have used the 240v socket in the centre console for. Also, if you plug something in more than 100w is it going to blow a fuse or will it just not work at all.
Thanks!

If it's anything like the one in the back of a 200 Cruiser, it's good for charging your phone, laptop etc. and that's about it.

I've run a Coleman 240v air bed pump from mine a few times with no problems.. just with the ignition on, car not running... the bed goes up pretty quick so it's not on for long.

Anyone thinking of using this power point should seriously pop the panel off and have a look at the size of the wires which supply the power to this power point and then make an informed decision as to what they use it for.

The one in my Prado powers my 40lt Engel without issue. Runs air mattress pumps, phone chargers, lights etc. not all at the same time though. Tried running the washing machine from it when the power went out but it has too much draw so you have to turn ignition off then on to get power outlet working again. Doesn't blow fuse.

Hi, does anyone know where the fuse is located for this 240 volt outlet in the centre console on the N8 series Hilux. Mine hasn't worked for a while and haven't bothered to investigate until coming across this old post.
Thanks in advance.

For gen 8 the INV / inverter fuse should be in the engine bay fuse box, 20A close in to the battery positive terminal.

Have tried searching but can't seem to find anything... does anyone know where the cables run for the centre console inverter? has anyone switched this over to their aux battery?
