Anyone Producing 3" Exhaust?

Postby Richard on Tue, 09 Aug 2016 10:03 +0000

As the heading asks, does anyone know of a 3" exhaust available for the Gen8 diesel Hilux as yet?

I was hoping to fit a Taipan but their latest date for release is early next year.

The only one I've read about recently was the Legendex (Genie)
I think TJM in Scott st Bungalow is a dealer for them.

Their making some pretty big HP and Torque claims there. I would give Rob a call at Cape York Automotive Cairns and Dyno run before and after just to ensure your Hilux is safe and also if the claims are real.

You have purchased a really good vehicle there with a very good engine and for around $180 a before and after Dyno run will protect your investment ---- and yes Rob is a straight shooter so he will tell you up front maybe even before you purchase the exhaust if its worth it.

I got a 3" DPF back exhaust from Genie in Perth. It was a bolt on kit rather than custom. I couldn't find any that removed the DPF except for the Unichip? exhaust which I could not get at the time I needed it. I know there is a few available because their supplier had 9 in stock.

Did the new exhaust make any power or economy difference or just more noise?

Sorry but I'm really not too sure. It went in with only 200ks on the car so didn't get an opportunity to run the figures prior. It does feel as though it's got better acceleration but that might just be me. It was supposed to go in for a UniChip straight after but they had issues and didn't receive it in time.
