Upload picture to startup screen

Has anyone managed to upload pictures for the start up screen that is normally the Toyota symbol?
The manual says it needs to be jpeg but when I stick the sub in it says it can't read it.

Not important but was wondering if I could get it to work

Yes. You need to create a subdirectory on your USB stick called StartupImage (note - the name is case-sensitive) then put your jpeg file in that directory.

So, it will only work with a USB stick plugged into the head unit? Or can it be "written" to the head unit???

The head unit loads the files from the USB into it's internal memory so the USB stick is only required for the upload and can then be removed. From memory you can have 3 images loaded - 3MB

I had a whole bunch of images on a USB to be uploaded but only one out of about ten met the criteria and was able to be uploaded. The rest weren't picked up by the head unit. I have no idea why. All were smallish in both filesize and resolution and were jpegs. And the image only stays there for about three seconds anyway. Time to upgrade that head unit methinks.

Which year head audio unit Is this for? I'm after the 2012 SR5 option
