99% of quality brand name amps don't require a LOC to convert to rca,
They have to voltage input, normally 0-5v and 5-10v
if using speaker wires that power you speakers to supply amp select 5-10v input and wire it strange up,
Your better to spent an extra 50 on amp then 30-50 on a pair of LOC's

A standard DC install for me is
Pioneer 48 series double din dvd and reverse cam
Rf p1000.5, Rf t1 series component up front and t series coaxel rears, 2x p3 8" under seat or single 10or12" behind seat in box
Dynamat all 4 doors
2k fully installed

For many this is there upper limit of what they are willing to spend, but after they hear there normally happy with purchess
farting is alot like jxxxxxg off. both provide instant gratification, but neither is a long term solution to the actual problem......................

Yes 100% possible
You either need LOC (line out converter) that reduces the voltage
Or get an amp dual inputs 0-5v and 5-10v

Disconnect the speakers
And connect the old speaker wires into either a LOC or direct to amp if 5-10v
Then amp output into new speakers

When shopping for an amp spent the extra $50 and get and get an am wig 5-10v input as it will be a better amp and easier to install then cheaper amp with LOC

Also look so rms power not watts, your factory head unit is about 16rms
So buying an amp with 25rms is a wast of money
Aim for 50-100rms
75rms is suited for most speakers

You can either get a 4ch 5ch of 4 ch with 1ch for sub
Option 1
4ch amp front and rear speakers no sub
Option 2
4ch amp. Front and sub rears of head unit or no tears
Option 3
5ch amp front and rear and sub
Option 5
4+1 ch amp. Front rear and sub
farting is alot like jxxxxxg off. both provide instant gratification, but neither is a long term solution to the actual problem......................

Thinking of doing the same, did you install an amp as well or just speakers? Thinking of doing just speakers for now, better sound quality compared to factory?

I am at the moment going through and upgrading the sound system in stages

First up I have done 4 alpine type s speakers 6.5" splits in the front with the tweeters mounted in custom pods
Image
and 6.5" coax in the back doors running off an alpine 4 channel amp using the stock head unit for now and it already sounds a million times better than it did with the 2 paper cone speakers that were in the front doors from the factory

Next up I will be doing the head unit probably a kenwood DNR935WBT as it fits in the Toyota hole and does not need infill pieces on either side

After that will be the alpine mono block amp to drive a slim line subwoofer mounted behind the back seat Image
one of these
YOU LOOKIN AT MY EYE?!!!

Im using a kicker 4 channel 400w amp to power the front standard speakers and kicker 10inch slim line sub which is behind the back seats in a sub box i used in my n70 hilix. It goes good for what it is :)

Replaced the factory speakers with focal intergration speakers. Fits into the factory holes and uses factory plugs. Big difference in quality, clearer treble and more mid range/bass. Still running of the factory sat nav.

Will post up part # for those interested

Sweet! Let us know what you think of them, confident you'll be happy. Was also thinking of putting this under the seat and power the fronts. http://www.lifestylestore.com.au/focal- ... ifier.html Might hold off for now pretty happy with how the speakers turned out.

I spent an hour or so fitting those new speakers on the weekend with several beers, What a difference they make! They are awesome and I'm very happy with them. Those OEM speakers I removed are rubbish at best. The sound now is beefy and way better. Worth the effort of swapping out the crap OEM ones that is for sure!

Here is my blonde moment... I removed a door panel and to inspect speakers and then I measured the rivets holding in the speakers, 10mm, ummm where does one find/buy a rivet that has a 10mm head on it? looking through bunnings, nothing. looking though Home timber and hardware, nothing. THEN, I opened the box and what do you know, They supply rivets with a 10mm heads on them. Bloody hell!

Hey Sugaris, just to clarify - this is using the Focal speakers as per the previous post:
Fronts - IS 165TOY
Rears - IC 165TOY
?

But still using the stock head unit? And you have a 2016 SR5?

Do they still sound/go as loud as the stock speakers? Often stock speakers have a high sensitivity (so they are loud on a low powered headunit) but replacements are lower sensitivity so they don't seem to go as loud...
How's the bass at higher volumes? I'm guessing / hoping that they don't distort like the stock speakers at higher volumes?

I'd love to upgrade the sound on my 2016 SR (same speaker setup as SR5) and am really interested in these speakers if they're a direct replacement fit for front and rear, but they arent cheap ;-) I like the stock look, and am pretty happy with the stereo system itself..

Appreciate any more info on this :-)

Akroehn, those part numbers are correct, and yes they are a direct replacement. They use the factory connectors, Mount to the original holes and come supplied with replacement rivets. Still running the factory headunit, huge improvement overall, yes they are louder and clearer than factory.

I second what Telliscope has said... they are worth the coin and time and effort to replace. The factory speakers are rubbish. I am also running factory head unit still.

Ended up fitting the focal integration ibus 2.1 amp /sub also. Plug and play with an ISO adapter harness from the head unit. Front speakers run off the amp, and the sub fills the bottom end nicely. fits perfect under the passenger front seat.
