Hi guys,

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but i'll give it a try anyway.

Picked up my new SR5 last week and I noticed that in the sun, the front bar doesn't have the same finish as the body, granted it is plastic but surely they can get the same finish?

Is anybody else's like this or am I over analysing...

Mine is like that... I think Toyota realise that 90% of front bars are removed for Bullbars so they don't give them the same love as the rest of the paint job.

Mines the same. Nothing to worry about. Except for forking out some money on a nice bull bar. ;)

Guys,

Its due to the bar being plastic and the car been metal..

Just a different finish on different materials.

It's a technical issue with light refraction plus the bar is ABS plastic compared to the metal of the body.

If you have a good look at it you will see that it's the same colour but a different texture due to the base materials as mention.

Start to worry when you have a major accident and your preferred crash repair shop has to colour match.

If that does happen I'd search far and wide for a shop that has dealt with these new crystal paints and is prepared to go that extra length to try and get it right even if it means a couple of coats.

(Another character difference of the paint is that at the factory it's misted on whereas here it'll be sprayed on).

When I worked at holdens in production they told us that they magnetize the car when they paint it. This causes the paint particles stand on end. This is not acheivable with plastic. It's also how you can see when a car has been re-sprayed.
