Sr5 roll bar light wiring

Postby Ryan1kd on Thu, 23 Jun 2016 5:34 +0000

Was just wondering if anyone knows if the standard rear roll bar on the SR5 is hollow the whole way through to allow wiring to be passed through it? Before I go ahead and drill into it to mount rear facing lights. Want to hide wiring within the bar itself.

Thanks

Hi Mate
Yes it is hollow, I ran mine through there
It's a bit of a prick to get it through but that's mainly because I didn't want to drill any bigger hole than I had too
This is the best photo I have loaded on photobucket
I brought it back out just above the hard lid as the base on the bar was blocked

NZMarkb how did you mount the lights? with a self tapping screw? I can't see how you can do it with a nut and bolt.

Cheers

I bolted them through the 2 brackets that fix the 2 parts of the bar at the top
Just made up some nylon packers
The plastic cover comes off easily

Just had another look at how I did it (and remembered in didn't have 4 stainless machine screws withe the same heads, must get around to changing that one)
I'm not sure if you guys get the same bar as us but I drilled through the space and made up some spacers to get the lights down far enough
Couldn't get a decent photo from underneath sorry, but here is one from above and one from behind
