Does anyone know if the standard loops on the front are load rated? They are mounted off the chassis rails and they certainly look like they could take some weight.

The ironman rated plates mount up right next to them.

How is that possible? is ironman sell rated (so tested) recovery points, they have product liability

So wouldnt agree that ironman recovery points are paper weights

Was just referring to ironman stuff in general. When you've seen an iron man bar break the front off a chassis because of poor mounts ya wouldn't touch anything from them.

Has anyone got any photos of the ARB recovery points fitted to a vehicle that they could post up?

Yeah I'll agree with what TOYZX has said, Ironman is inferior to ARB, even though ARB do charge a pretty hefty premium, its worth it imo. I was told by a mate the reason he sold Ironman was the fact that it had a greater profit making ability for his business, cheaper, so it was more accessible to most people, and the big thing he said was the fact that he got a huge margin from selling Ironman gear compared with the rest.

On the durability front, I know of a handful of blokes that brought bars and had them rust within a year, none that i know of with an ARB. I have also seen the aftermath of a decent animal strike on both bars, Ironman? Replaced, ARB? Still good to go for another, seen this on a handful of vehicles too.

I don't have a dog in the fight with this one either, I have a BSF Bar anyways, just the fact of the matter is ARB is better, and certainly have used marketing well to increase the value of their product, over the rest, but, are people willing to pay the extra for the use of ARB? I would. I've also seen genuine toyota bars on the new model hilux totalled already, and one bloke I know has an ARB that was a replacement for the genuine and uses it as a livestock bulldozer and is still happy, so must be something right, I just cringe at the way he uses a 2016 SR5 Auto around the farm

Look at threads in this forum do a search, heaps of complaints on ARB painting for example, they just shop that out to a local paint shop

so quality is determined by the local paint shop, not ARB

we have the trade practices ACT here in Oz, so if ironman sold inferior gear, not suitable as advertised than you can get a refund, and make a complaint at ACCC

So no way ironman can sell rated recovery points that dont work

ARB sponsor this forum as well

4wd supastore did comparisons on awnings you can watch their video, unsealed 4x4 did fridge comparison and led light bars etc and not always the most expensive or brand name wins

And check out product review page, where people have to be verified purchases to post on there

not all happy campers

Rust like so many others

Steel powder coated bullbar on Mazda BT-50 rusting a after less than six months. ARB say that the bar is 'not defective' because the problem is not structural. Offered to 'fix' problem but car would be off the road for 10 days - which would be nothing more than a re-spray anyway. A premium product in name only - Rubbish!

really poor quality, doesn't even fit properly

Delux bar for my GU Patrol. Exceeds the guard by more than 2 inchs one side. The pipe work is also warped with ARB admitting fault, but refusing to refund my money. They claim that even though the bar doesn't fit properly it can still be used as intended WTH.

Rust rust rust

I bought an ARB bull bar for my Landcruiser 80 but sadly it is rusting to bits. Their respond was that is normal wear and tear (due to stone chips) but the rust is on the inside of the panels, on the bracket and on all the sharp edges. None on the area that is subjected to potential stone chips. Communication is challenged at best. Seems rust is a common problem even though they are in denial.

There's also a lot of ARB gear break also. In general though, the quality is good.

Just purchased some ironman recovery points. They look like they could take a load. For half the price of arb, ill give them a go. After all, its just steel plate.

I do agree about arb making better quality bars. At double the price of ironman, they would want to be more then double the quality.

I bought an ironman bar.
I just figure, if i hit a roo, as long as the car is still driveable it'll be an insurance claim anyway. For half the price it's good value for money. If it rusts, ill pay the $300 and get it colour coded.

Dude, you don't give up on your ARB gear, I've had Arb on the last 4 vehicles I've owned, although its been ok, I have also had issues with paint, I'm about to put on a Ironman bar, because quite frankly I find The ARB guys here in Canberra very arrogant and very expensive, Ironman have really improved their gear in the last few years, as for their recovery points they are actually reinforced steel plate, very heavy duty rated to 5000kg, the Ironman bar looks the goods too, time will tell but definitely happy to make the change.

Yeah well what can I say, I see all makes and models with all sorts of gear fitted and its not hard to see where the quality is. I'll be the first to admit it's bloody expensive gear but not the most expensive! Don't get me started on Tuff gear! Well this is all off topic, rant over. [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

Has anyone fitted Arb or Ironman recovery points with a toyota genuine steel bar?
And could you post up a photo?

Will having a factory steel bullbar affect the mounting of the recovery points compared to the arb bar?

Cheers

Hahahaha, not another ARB thread.
Did I read on this thread some lunatic paid >$400 for a set of recovery points from em......
Now its becoming very clear why ARB share price was $7.00 5 years ago, now up near $18.00.
You fool's being sucked in by their Master Class marketing - best in the business.

Other than their Bars (which are top shelf), there products are a RIP OFF!
