Anthony I am using a 4 pole to rca cable and the apple composite cable. You can use anything though that has rca output. I would not write off the eBay converter yet. My money is on the rca lead. Get a multimeter and do a continuity test on the 4 pole plug to the rca plugs. Start with the ground and ensure it is correct to all three plugs. I had a glitchy picture and no sound when I swapped rca plugs and found it was wired wrongly to the toyotas needs. Now the picture is clear with no issues.

anthonypham67, my money is on the RCA lead being incorrect. Use a multimeter to do a continuity test on the 4 plug lead to the rca's and ensure it is ok before you write off the converter. I had similar quality issues after switching rca plugs before I realised it needed re wiring.

For those who don't know, I assume the rca connections are behind the head unit, how do I get to them?

Hi All

I got one of these leads for my Galaxy S5:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/262791929387?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
It has the audio but no image, I am guessing that wires will need to be swapped around in the 3.5mm jack end to get the video to work.
Any ideas?

cheers
Adrian

Q1. Has anyone actually been successful and can post pics of a video playing using an Apple product?
Q2. Has anyone used anything else other than an Apple product and got it to play?

Looking at the schematic:
Plug G113
Black (VV+) & White (VV-) cables in pins 13 & 14 are video in.
Black (VAL+), Red (VAR+) & White (VA-) in pins 26, 27 & 28 are audio in.

I was desiring to solder in a set of RCA and find a cheap DVD player with RCA to make use for long trips & then had a moment a thought my boys have a Sega Classic Mini which is RCA out and runs off 9v (240v stepped down drawing 100ma) PERFECT.

So temp wired it up to pins but no video or audio but can hear a click in the speakers when i press the menu button or turn the unit on/ off.
