Hi guys,

I'm sorry to do this on you but I've just had a text saying there's a dealer sale tomorrow.

I want a 2016 hilux sr White with canvas seat covers, headlight and bonnet protectors, mats, towbar, the dark brake controller.

What is a good price?

I will also require an ARB canopy and rack system (I have a trade rack already, I just need the framing for it). Is it cheaper to get it through the dealer at point of sale?

I am selling my current ute privately as I don't think I'll get a decent trade in price.

the only thing i can add to this is be careful having max accessories on your car at time of purchase, it will increase the amount of stamp duty you need to pay.

it'd only be a worthy choice if the dealer gives you a good price which negates the above.

I would go in and haggle a set price for the SR first, then see what they can throw in for you in the way of accessories. You don't want to put all your cards on the table upfront. Once an agreement on price is reached, they won't want to lose you as a buyer.

As for the ARB gear, yeah I'd say get it on there right away. They can usually get pretty good prices including fitting for you. The way I see it, you will be saving yourself a trip to ARB later down the track and not have to deal with the whole buying and fitting process again.

You just have to work out what would be best for you financially. Bigger loan means more money paid back in the long run, which is where Toyota will be cashing in on.

Get the dealer to get you the dealer price at ARB as most toyota dealers get special prices due to the amount of work they send ARB way but all you have to do is get the dealer to organise the fitting at ARB and you pay ARB direct that way it doesn't end up on the final invoice there for you won't pay the extra stamp duty

That's a bit late lol.

I'm thinking of facing full spec to every dealer on east coast and going with best price or using a broker.

What do you think?

I used a broker, and it was way better than any dealer could do, on the ute as well as accesories.

I had to push them a lot to come to the party with finance, but got a cracker deal on that too.

Spoke to Evette Abdo at Stratton finance. Is it a one day sale? They took about 2 weekdays to put it all together as they put out tenders to a bunch of dealers. Managed to get me stock when I was battling to find any available too.

I am on the central coast, and car was supplied by Pennant Hills toyota. They were going to deliver to my house with a truck, but I decided to colect.

My brother got a white SR auto for $46,000 through the dealer (Gold Coast). After he signed a deal another dealer in Brisbane got back to him and offered in $45,000 which he missed out on. So $45,000 is doable for an SR through a dealer.

I am looking at SR5's and most dealers have started at $60,000, but once they know your serious they bring the price down pretty quickly. I have been offered $55,000 for a 2016 auto SR5 before haggling.

But I also went through Stratton finance for my current Hilux, and it is a breeze to go through the whole new car process. I don't think you save much coin though. If you tell the dealers you are considering a broker they will get pretty close to the same price.

Everything depends on your trade in vehicle too

I have a px ranger xlt to trade though I'll probably sell privately to get a better price.

I won't need finance, does anyone one know the margins on the accessories?

For instance if seat covers are 700 retail what do they cost to the dealer?
