Where is that setting? Would be amazing to fix that simply.

Pressing the trip meter button cycles the centre display through Odometer, Trip A, Trip B and the brightness setting screen. That last screen shows a series of blocks (like a bar graph). Once on that bar graph screen holding the trip meter button down for more than 3 seconds cycles the brightness through a series of steps from full-dim to full-bright.

Full details on page 84 of the manual.

That got me looking, turns out my brightness was only on the second bar so should have been entering night mode. Dug a little deeper and there's a setting on the main screen option for day mode. unselected this and got night mode.

Anybody worked out any other hacks with the new touchscreen audio units?

Can I confirm on SR models that dont have GPS, when you use "Download Destination" it does nothing other than send you an address and small photo on your audio unit.....because GPS is not an SR option you cannot navigate using this feature?

Is there a way to navigate on the touchscreen running through BLuetooth on your phone ?

Be good if we could use the touchscreen as a larger auxiliary screen for Google Maps atleast.....just seems pointless having such a large screen but cannot use it as an auxiliary for anything.

Edit: And has anyone worked out how to play DVD's or movies off USB onto the screen?

Sorry to dig up an old post, I'm new to the forum and still trying to work out my way through. I have a 2016 SR5, and use the factory sat nav guidance a fair bit for work which I've discovered (frustratingly) doesn't recognise when you've reached a destination, and will continue to nag you to turn around until you specifically disable navigation or set a new destination. Is there a simple way to disable this? I've used 10 year old sat nav's that are more intuitive, I'm hoping for a quick fix. Many thanks!

My 2013 does the same... I don't know any way around it

It does recognise that you've arrived and tells you so. If you stop at that point it asks whether you have reached your destination. If you drive past the destination it keeps navigating you back to the destination again. I wish it would just automatically stop navigating once arrived though.

Thanks Darren I'll test that out today, how long do you find you need to be stopped for it to recognise? Maybe never come up before cos I'm always prompt in turning off when I come to a stop (in fact, it's a bit of an annoyance that the SR5's start-stop button won't let you turn the engine off while the car's in drive, I've gotten into a bad habit on other cars of 'gliding' to a stop, but that's a different story!)

Just a couple of seconds I think.

Hi Everyone,
Toyota have released a software update for the head unit in the current Hilux, Fortuner and Corolla. TNF 45/16 released 7/7/16.

The software update will enhance the operation of Satnav, Bluetooth, Audio including FM, USB and DAB+, Rear camera Display, Voice Recognition and power and stability.

This update will need to be installed by your dealer. Next time you get your Hilux serviced ask for this to be done as well.

Regards,
Sugaris.

Hi - picked up my 2016 sR5 this week and it keeps signalling I need to install a mandatory update. I have lost count of how many times I've tried now and it keeping failing at various stages. Most I have gotten to is 82%. Tried shutting the app down, resetting head unit etc and can't get it to finish the update. Any further suggestions before I take it back to dealership?

Cheers

I had the same problem using an iPhone 6s. If you have access to an older phone ie 4 or 5 it should load first time. Assuming you're using iPhone.

You'd think Toyota would update their app or software to cope with the phone companies new models.

This is because of the iPhone... Toyota are investigating several issues with the new ISO version 10 and the Hilux head units.

No updates yet... my iPhone 7 does not play nicely with the Hilux head unit.

My Samsung Galaxy S6 edge had no such issues.
