Hi all, anyone with a new Hilux get asked by the onboard computer what price the fuel was when you filled up?

I noticed that on the trip computer there was a section where it showed a $ sign, but wasn't anything meaningful??

maybe it will show how many $$$ the car's wasting per kilometer haha.

You can set a comparison fuel economy figure and it will tell you how much money you are saving by driving at less than that figure.

Wanky.
I'd rather that they spent their development money on a volume knob for the radio. Up/down buttons are a real pain

yes! the touch screen buttons are a pain. The steering wheel buttons are a lot easier to use.

With my new Hilux my lovely missus kept slapping my hand every time I went to use the volume up and down arrows on the unit until I got used to the volume buttons on the steering wheel.

Hey guys, when you fill up the new hilux how much do you put in? My fuel empty sign comes up empty so i go and fill up and only allows me to put about 55litres in, its meant to be a 80 litre tank but i am not getting any where close to this. Im getting 600km a tank at the moment, think there might be a problem with the sensor? how can i test this, i dont want to run it empty and have to bleed the lines. Its a diesel sr5 dual cab

I'm yet to put more than 70L in mine. The owners manual says that the fuel light comes on with approximately 12L remaining. So far I've just been resetting the odometer and allowing another 100 ks once the fuel light comes on.

What I should do is fill up the second the fuel light comes on and see how much I put in as 80-12 should be 62. If it's any less then I know how much I can do after the fuel light comes on. The Toyota distance to empty is rubbish. My wife's corolla is as conservative as hell. We regularly go another 100ks past zero and still only put 40L in a 55L tank.
My Ranger was great in this regard. Warning and tone at 80Ks, 40 and again at 20 and each time the centre display would change to the dte display. Every time I'd fill up I'd put 72L into an 80L tank.

I've been filling up about 60-65L when the fuel light comes on. On a full tank range is showing as 720 but i've been getting about 620-630 before fuel light comes on, that's city driving and in traffic. Also a new dual cab sr5 diesel auto.

Did a longer drive yesterday and the computer reckons i was using 7.6L / 100km sitting on 110km/h for about an hour and 20 min. Both a mate and I filled our hiluxes up at the same time and used the same amount of fuel according to the fuel guage :). Same cars however different tires and one with a canopy one without.

Can anyone shed some light on how this information is displayed? I have been through the dash menus and the touchscreen and I have yet to find anything.

I fuelled up early last week after driving from Canberra to Newcastle, Penett Hills Rd was jammed, 1hr to get through, followed by a few days of city driving. 750km+ and screen saying please re-fuel now, but still only managed to get 65-67L in the tank. 6 speed Manual diesel SR5, steel bull bar, brush bars and side steps, TJM steel rear step and steel rims with Toyo AT2 tyres!!!!

Might have to do a trip with a jerry can in the back just to see what it can do, as those figures show there should be about 100 - 150Ks still in it!!!!

Just put a 150L long ranger in 2016 dual cab sr5 manual and have done 800km so far and the guage is showing empty. Computer shows im using 10L/100KM so i should be close to 1500km a tank is this an issue with the gauge or do all after market tanks do this?

Just came back from a 650km round trip. The trip computer indicated average 8.6L/100km which was mostly sitting at 110km/h or around 90 but had a bit of gear and a dog on this trip. i had just under a quarter tank left when i got home with range showing at 54km. At start of the trip when I filled up i had 720km showing for the range. I also had the tyre pressure at 30psi in the rear so the tub wasn't too bouncy for the dog. I think at 38psi there should be a slight better economy :).

..the trip computer must just estimate the range based on the average consumption history. Not sure if updating the trip computer at the end of each date changes the output figures. I tend to update the average fuel usage tracker after each refill. I believe there's about 20L left in the tank when the fuel lamp comes on.

Since purchasing the car I've done a total of 7,800km and that's 90% city driving and i get an average of 9.6L/100 and get about 620km before the fuel lamp comes on (in the city / peak hour back and forth from work). that equals to about 60L of diesel... hence the 20L guesstimate above.

Hey guys,
Fuelled up yesterday putting 60.90L in, cross between highway and city driving, last 2 days with new canopy on, fuel light had come on, had travelled 732km, system saying only 30km left, given that there was still 20L left in the tank would suggest at least 150-200km as the average consumption read 10L/100......

It'd be nice in this day and age if Toyota could be a little more accurate with their systems, as other makers are!!!

Hi all

Is it worthwhile putting the price when it is asked for after re fueling? Is there any advantage?
Cheers

Hi guys, quick question. Do you put in $$ per L or the whole cost of the tank fill?

If its $ per L i guess it is just whole dollars as i cant see a way to input cents?
