Clunk is pretty much gone, Although I keep expecting it to happen every time I stop.
Also had the tub liner fitted. Looks real nice.

Turns out the tailshaft spline too tight in diff.
Watched the two mechanics hammer it to remove from diff.
Then machined the spline for more clearance - took 3 hrs.
Toyota said there was a note about it at the sevice centre.
Feels much better now - hopefully economy will now improve more from 10.3

All of these cars are obviously brand new, they go for their little "expert" drive (most journos couldn't drive a stick up a .........) and make their decision. Unfortunately in the real world owners keep their cars for 3-5 years and up to 150000km. The interesting test would be to grab a 3 year old hilux, ranger, amorok, Nav and see what they are like, noting what has gone pear shaped in that time.

Wondering if anyone has noticed additional power when using the power button instead of Eco or
does it just hold gears longer on the Auto
Seems to me to be a lot more sting or is my mind playing games

Power mode is very addictive. I love driving around town in Power, but it's probably not good for the wallet. Eco mode tends to reduce the throttle response, limits kick downs on the gearbox, stays in the gear you're in longer and reduces the air con. I reckon going from Eco to Power is like someone removing a brick from behind the accelerator pedal.

Mate you still have the option of driving without the power or eco button pressed. That just gives you the normal mode. There are three modes to drive in. Power, Normal and Eco. I've found Normal pretty good and don't use the buttons at all now. Each to his own, but normal works for me.
Cheers
