So I found out my liberty has a leaking head gasket and now I'm looking at moving it on and ordering a workmate 4x4 extra cab, what do you guys think a fair price would be? was thinking $43500 with entry tray would be fair as a returning customer to my local dealership? the extras I'll just put on myself but it would just be like some KM2's, tow bar, reverse camera and maybe window tint.

Got quoted 45k from the local dealer for the 2.4TD 4 x 4 workmate extra cab. No thanks. I only paid a shade over that for my 'old' 2013 SR5.

I cant help thinking is prospective buyers could hold their wads for a few months instead of lining up outside the local Toyota dealer just to be the first kid on the block / facebook / 4 x 4 forum with the latest model, it might just apply enough pressure on suppliers to get their prices back to more realistic levels.
But if we keep paying it, they're happy to oblige.

Just took a new SR5 for a strap on the weekend. The new SR5 has definitely improved in size, comfort, noise, vibration and harshness. BUT, at 60K in am not interested the slightest. I honestly thought my 2013 SR5 (with ultimate suspension) ironed out the bumps better, and with my chip there was not much difference in the power department (I think the larger 18inch wheels on the new one probably exaggerate this a little). So there is still a lot coin that needs to be thrown at this truck to get it bush ready, which would blow out most peoples budget...

I may consider trading up if it was in the low 50's but not $59500 (auto). I payed $49000 for my SR5 in 2013, thats a big jump in price...

I got quoted 53,300k for a grey SR 4x4 dual cab pickup 2.8 auto..

It's just so hard to justify spending another $30,000 when my $20,000 2008 hilux does all the same things just as well.. hell it's even better with the v6 I can actually overtake easily. I worry how slow the 2.8tb would be overtaking.. can anyone comment what happens when you put your foot down at 100kmph?

On the test drive I floored it on the M4, it wasn't too bad at that speed, it didn't force you back in to the seat or anything, but as previously mentioned, My 07 with 3" exhaust and Stienbauer would have left it for dead. but that's not really a fair comparison.

The real disappointment was actually from about 40kmh to 80, surged hard at first and then flattened off fast at about 2800rpm all the way through to 3500rpm. That was one of the things that made me go Hmmmmm.

The turbo is 30% smaller than on the 1KD, to me it sounds like they sacrificed top end power for a relatively flat torque curve between up to ~3000rpm. I read on some japanese tech bulletin that toyota claims the 1GD makes 370nm at 1200rpm and the 2GD 330nm at 1200rpm which is pretty impressive, I doubt the amarok or NP300 could do that, have you all just driven auto's? extra cabs only come in manual :/ so I'll have to only test drive manuals.

Good luck with that, I couldn't even find an SR in manual to test drive in a 10K radius (5 dealers) two weeks ago, might have some more stock now though.

There's a dual cab workmate manual at my local dealer, and two SR5 manuals one auto that I saw on Sunday so I might just try and drive all of them then decide, the SR would be better it's only like $3500 more for a SR extra cab and you get the big motor, nicer interior plus the electronic diff lock.

I test drove an auto dc sr5 and sr auto dc cabc today. Very impressed. I did notice that the sr gear changes were a lot more noticeable compared to the sr5. Apparently there aren't any differences between gearboxes that could cause this. They both had similar kms. I can only put it down to the cab chassis being tray/tubless creating a bit of extra driveline jerk due to stiff suspension...not 100% sure but just a thought. I was quoted 60300 for sr5 in White with headlight, bonnet protectors and Towbar and 52000 for the same assesories with the sr. Waiting to see what trade they offer. The bullbars look pretty nice for a change!

meh I've pretty much decided to just keep my 08 V6 SR hilux.. the new one just isn't enough to justify the huge cost. I just got a raise but I will be putting the money towards a house rather than a car... I'm still happy with my hilux. I want to get some better wheels for it but it's so hard to find wheels that fit and look good for the Sr without flares...

Has anybody else noticed the big arse mud catching gap between the rear of the suicide doors and the cab Be real lovely when the mud dries and then someone decides to open the rear door. Also the rear headroom in the duel cabs. I'm only 5'10" and a bit, and I was still touching the roof

Ah true aye, I haven't seen the extra cabs yet. I agree with the headroom as well, I'm only 5'9 and I reckon there was only 50mm gap. Surely Toyota will lose sales with overlooking that.

I think the hilux was unfairly judged in that, they praise it for a lot of things, the areas it really matter such as driveability with a load (it's a ute after all), running costs, interior, ground clearance etc then it doesn't even get in the top three... and the amarok gets 2nd place and it hasn't even got low range ffs, no surprise the ranger won

No matter anyway toyota will no doubt sell them by the boat load
