2016 Hilux

General discussion of basically anything related to the 2015> Hilux

An interesting and welcome change is that all 4×4 and Hi-Rider models have a purpose-designed fuse box in the engine bay to allow safe connection of accessories to the vehicle’s power supply.

so this is the diff between sr5 and sr5+

SR5+ (over SR5):
Leather-accented trim
Power driver’s seat adjustment

I think the purpose of that fuse box is they run a smart alternator and a current measuring device. If you connect your accessories directly to the battery you may bypass the current measuring device and leave yourself with a flat battery.

Agreed, even if you have to make it one transmission wouldn't you make it auto only? I had my eye on a workmate extra cab until I saw manual only :( not that I can't drive manual, just an auto would be better for the beach which is where i'd do all my offroading.

I agree completely was keen for a new extra cab thinking that an auto would have been a certainty :(

Is the no automatic extra cab thing a standard for utes? My mate's looking into buying a BT-50/Ranger and it's the same with them too though the 2015 models transitioned over to give an auto offering.

It's likely just a cost cutting measure, a shame really for toyota to do it of all people though, they sell enough of the bloody things...

My 2014 must be an SR5+, it came from the factory with leather and a power seat. Toyota must have been testing the waters because there was only a handful of them available. And before you experts chime in, I know it's not a + model, it was just a optional extra.

I want to buy a 2016 4x4 SR.. I'm not dumb enough to pay for SR5, they just tack crap on and jack the price up. I'm even considering the workmate 4x4.. it's so similar to the SR. Only cosmetic difference I can see is it doesn't have colour coded bumper, but I'd be putting an ARB bullbar on anyway so that doesn't matter. A non toyota dealer offered me 14k for my 2008SR v6 with 180,000k's on it.. I've got brand new ARB bullbar, ARB rear step tow and canopy. Hopefully someone buys it off carsales so I can hurry up and buy a new 2016 !

Oh wait you only get the puss 2.4ltr in the workmate. So it's 4x4 dual cab SR for me :D

Then for my lifestyle and work I need a canopy and 4 ladder racks and throw in a tow Bar and nudge the price up to approx $66,000.

Am I the only person who is now running around looking for a run out sale of the 2015 model ? But my situation is different than others I'd say as my lease is up in a couple of months and just want to change over before my 2011 loses much more value and go over the 100,000 Klm mark.

Why I ask in this thread as I would like to know an average price from someone who has just bought a run out SR5 dual cab diesel . Who may have had the same idea.

Hi Tony,

Castle Hill sold there last run out one today, with no accesories at all. Youd be hard pressed to find out, but id check the online websites or ask around.

I believe the run out price is 49K driveaway. Goodluck with whatever it is you go with.

Cheers

SB

I got my 2015 man sr5 dual cab for 46300 in April (no extras). I couldn't believe the price!! Nearly 20k less than the new one

That's because it's the last model year of a car that was designed very early last decade I'm afraid. You should have waited! But even I'm reluctant to pay 50k for a 4x4 SR dual cab.. I might wait a year or two. My current one won't depreciate hugely over the next two years, and to be honest I'm still loving the power of the v6. I might even get another v6 if it's an option.. the v6 is a brilliant motor, with vvti it would be even better.

I got mine in June for the same price. I would rather have the old one that is tried and tested.

I'm pretty impressed with the look of the genuine toyota bull bars, big step forward from the ugly previous gen, especially the steel bars. Arb will need to be on their game to make their bar look better imho.

Me to, First gen cars always have bugs which get worked out after a few models.

roo is correct

prices are closer to as follows..

SR Dual Cab, Manual G Box, Silver with tow bar, tub liner, bonnet protection, headlamp protectors and weather shields $53200
SR5 same spec $63400

Those are un-negotiated prices so I am positive you could do better.

For me the prices were fine but as of this morning I just couldn't go past the Ranger, for me the package was better for my requirements than what the Hilux delivered. First Ford Ive ever owned and the picture of the rock climber leaping over the gap between two rocks about 500ft in the air was certainly symbolic as I signed off the contract this morning LOL

So if anybody is looking for a well serviced Hilux with a bunch of extras drop me a line :)

I have to say I did love my D4D though, it has been a great truck.
Cheers

I test drove both and I thought the hilux felt way better, the ranger just felt so big and bulky compared to the more nimble feeling hilux. The back seats on the hilux sat way too high and the power on the hilux didn't feel any less than a ranger . The price is just way to high on the hilux , maybe that's something Toyota can rectify .

To many figures in the pot. ;)
There's Toyota Motor Corporation, Toyota Australia, state and federal governments, the transport company to get them to our shores, and the dealerships.
State and federal governments take about $8,000.00 out of a SR 4x4 Hilux straight sale. That's with no accessories.
As the vehicle sells as a second hand vehicle, the state governments keep on taking from us every time the vehicle gets sold. This practice was suppose to go when GST came in.
Remember, in Thailand they are paying $20,000.00 less than we are in Australia, for the same thing.
The way Australia has gone with most things, even when products are made here.
It's shameful.
